"Never" give silica if the patient has implants of any sort.
I have often heard this caution, but have never heard anyone report any
adverse effect from giving silica where silica is indicated, even when
the pt has e.g. heart valve, pinned bones, etc. The sole
not-really-exceptions involved teeth that ejected their fillings, but
there was excellent reason to think that those fillings *needed* to
come out anyway, as there was trouble beneath them.
