Hi Joy,

Only this snippet -

Water Violet
General - Scrophulous swellings.
Female - Leucorrhoea. [From Culpepper]

PHYSICAL TENDENCIES: Lack of spontaneity and of lively involvement may lead to
physical stiffness and rigidity. An internal retreat or the raising of oneself above
others may be reflected in a posture of haughtiness and aloofness. {Boedlers Bach Rx]

Bach has more on the mentals, but I'm sure you can glean those from the Net.

Have a good weekend. Barbara

Hottonia palustris
Water violet
Introduction
The remedy Water Violet belongs to the group of Loneliness, as classified by Bach.
This group consists of only three remedies, the other two being Impatience and Heather.
Specifically, Water Violet treats states of aloofness and haughtiness.
Mind
In the Water Violet state, one raises the self above others and removes from lively involvement
with people in reserved dignity.
Due to deepened life experiences with subsequent understanding of life's truths and an
intensified process of spiritual growth, one perceives oneself as special, advanced, refined, and
perceptive and believes others to be less aware or matured.
In case life's experiences involved grief or being hurt by others, one finds more reason to
retreat from people and isolate oneself in self-protection and feelings of superiority.
This is the two-fold character of the Water Violet state; one feels superior and special, yet
deep down is vulnerable and lonely.
The perceptive error in this state lies in trying to establish independence and preserve one's
mature and refined self-concept by shunning involvement with others, while true greatness and
genuine self-respect is earned best in loving, self-forgetful service and comradery with others.
The reasons for feeling superior may also lie in one's special talents, achievements, or one's
heritage, as one feels uniquely endowed, accomplished, or favored.
In most cases, this advantage is quietly savored within, just occasionally presented and talked
about.
In some other cases, however, superiority is expressed more vigorously through haughty behavior,
eccentricity, and condescension.
In treatment of delusional disorder, grandiose type, and narcissistic personality disorder when
there is the tendency to feel haughty and eccentric, this remedy can be of service.
In these disorders, usually an underlying insecurity, desire for attention and admiration, and
envy fuel the grandiose perceptions and aspirations, and other remedies may be asked for.
Emotions
In the quiet type, the emotional life may be subdued and stagnating, since active engagement with
others is avoided or even considered as disturbing to the inner peace.
This lack of involvement may be interpreted as disinterest, lack of spontaneity, or even apathy
in face of social stimulation and amusement.
In actuality, the Water Violet person longs for genuine human encounter, even though they may not
be fully aware of such a quest.
Isolation and removal stifle from deep within and leave the inner self empty and sad.
From their self-protective position, the Water Violet person may not easily venture forth, as
soon as the inner need for social interaction is coming to the fore.
One rather waits in a mixture of pride and sensitivity and lets the other do the first move.
This rather passive state may lead to further disappointment and work the person deeper into
aloofness and seclusion.
The more expressive Water Violet type shows superiority and condescension more openly and
offensively.
Pride and eccentricity may alienate others unduly and keep them at bay.
This more spontaneous type may not be as vulnerable inside as the quiet type but still lacks the
genuine bridge of mutual appreciation and heartfelt venture toward others.
A temporary Water Violet state may come on in those who have been offended or humiliated, as they
try to protect their self-image.
One may choose to raise oneself above the offender, instead of accepting the negative appraisal
or affront and being crushed by it.
Oftentimes, the expressive Water Violet type itself may push others into this state of
self-defence, as one Water Violet mentality creates another, even if just temporarily.
This remedy will restore friendship and comradery, where once was alienation and affront.
Physical tendencies
Lack of spontaneity and lively involvement may lead to physical stiffness and rigidity.
Internal retreating or raising above others may be reflected in a posture of haughtiness and
aloofness.
Doctrine of signatures
The Water Violet plant grows along brooks and streams with its roots and leaves in the shallow
waters.
This expresses the psychological state of being isolated, of being an island removed from people;
one roots oneself in waters foreign to others.
Leaves, while in other plants usually reaching out and making contact with neighboring plants,
are submerged, as if to refuse contact.
The leaves are feathery and needed to extract nutrients from the water, just as the Water Violet
person nourishes the self in seclusion.
A single erect stem grows out of the water, presenting beautiful mauve-white flowers which
emanate from the stem in a circle at various intervals along the stem.
One is reminded of stages or of a hierarchy, of one group being higher than the other.
This speaks of the Water Violet tendency to raise the self above others and engage in elitist or
hierarchical thinking.
The circles of flowers themselves, however, portray sociableness, equality, and unity.
A "social circle" or a "circle of friends" commonly refers to enjoyable and affectionate
friendships and encounters.
The remedy Water Violet will bring new appeal to social life and teach the beauty of meeting
others in equality, the beauty of circles of unity over hierarchies of separateness.
Method of preparation
Several flowers are picked by the stalk and left floating in a bowl of sunlit water for several
hours.
The water is then strained and prepared as medicine.
Goal of therapy
To meet and serve others in spontaneous kindness and self-forgetfulness, putting their desire for
happiness, self-worth, and personal recognition above one's own.
To see and appreciate each person as special and unique.

Flower Essence Society Repertory
Water Violet - Hottonia palustris (pale mauve, yellow center) - English
Positive qualities: Sharing one's gifts with others, appreciation of
social relationships
Patterns of imbalance: Aloof, withdrawn, disdainful of social
relationships
The Water Violet personality is generally very quiet and
self-contained, with soul qualities of gracefulness and equanimity. Their
sedate, calm manner enables them to handle many different occupational and
life situations in a very capable manner. However, it is difficult to know
such persons well, or to feel a warm and personable connection with them.
Such persons often appear distant or aloof; more extreme types seem proud,
haughty, or arrogant. They may become involved in community affairs, but
only in accordance with their professional standing. Many such souls have
chosen to be born into families of wealth and social prominence, and they
are well-cultured and educated. But even among Water Violet types without
this obvious upper-class background, one feels a quality which sets such a
person apart; the soul conducts itself with great dignity and refinement. It
has no need to draw attention to itself, but neither does it seem to have
much need to give of itself to others. Many such souls are in fact highly
evolved, or they may be strongly influenced by the subconscious memory of a
prominent past life. Such individuals are blocked in their further evolution
until they realize that the Self can evolve only so far as a separate
identity. The true spiritual Self must expand to include all of humanity.
Water Violet helps such souls make a transition to a more inclusive state of
consciousness, one that helps them experience a compassionate and joyful
connection to the human family.

PROUD, ALOOF
Because of knowledge and capability, they sometimes appear to be proud,
aloof disdainful and condescending.
Such mental rigidity can create physical stiffness and tension.
In a normal state is willing to offer advice without becoming
personally involved in the affairs of others.
These people like the plant itself stand proud and erect. They prefer
the quiter things in life and for this reason tend to be reserved. They move
about quietly, are not clumsy or erratic but severe an self-assured. They
enjoy being on their own or company of few well chosen friends. more
harmonious than going to a large social gathering. They are willing to give
advice if requested but o not attempt to interfere or influence and
similarly will not discuss their own health or concerns with others. They
therefore, suffer and bear grief in silence and because they keep a thin
veil between themselves and those around them, they tend to distant
themselves from people. The thin veil can become a hard barrier which is
difficult to penetrate and the water Violet then finds that people are in
awe of them; find them remote and unapproachable and this can cause them
loneliness.
This remedy helps to break down this barrier and thus enables them to
welcome others with friendliness and yet retain calm serenity and to remain
proud without appearing haughty. They may suffer from physical rigidity,
stiffness and tension since their energy is often blocked.
