I am an M.Sc Psychology student.I am interested in studying the
effects of stress,depression,and social factors on diabetes and the
Complications these have on maintaining your sugar level.If you are
interested to help me please reply positively and I will email you
some questionnaires.It is self explanatory you just have to mark the
answers to how diabetes has affected your life and send it back to me.
The information given to me will be used only for research purposes
and will not appear on the Internet or else where . I will just
tabulate the data and use it for my project. The data will be
confidential.
My sister is doing a project on pain and osteoarthritis. We both
need feedback from Indian patients.If you know anyone affected by
diabetes or osteoarthritis please email me your help will be very
useful and I can email you the questionnaire.
Could you all help me I am living in a rural village in India
where women don't venture out that much so much of my research needs
help and from saviours like you.Please help me if possible. This study
will help very much to study effect of diabetes on one's life.Awaiting

Dear Sulaiha,
Thank you for your quaries. Diabetes Mellitus [DM] are of 2 types. Type I & II the former one IDDM [Insulin Dependant DM & the next one is NIDDM Non Insulin Depandant DM]. In IDDM the proposed etiology is virus, but the NIDDM etiolgy is multi factorial. Yes stress plays a great role in augmenting Blood Glucose Lavel [BGL]. This we've seen in clinical practice. Definitely is a potential field of research. Stress management plays a great role in maintaining BGL & some other psycho-soatic diseases. Re. Osteoarthritis [OA]the role of stress [mental]is not proved, so far I know. But in pain management of OA stess factor may be required to be adressed. We've seen in Homoeopathy good result in stress management + control of BGL [except in IDDM & some cases of poorly controlled DM]+ pain management [where NSAID = Non Steroid Anti Inflamatory Drugs are less require].
