Suicide note

I received a copy of this young boy's suicide note from one of his friends.
It's extremely sad, especially knowing it could have been prevented with
homeopathy (as in that case one of you posted not that long ago that
resolved with Aurum). This boy never gave any warning signs. I'm interested
to read your thoughts on how you would have proceded with such a
patient with only this much information.
Here's the note:

"Dear All,

You are now receiving this email as my last communication. I am gone for a
more peaceful place. Don't be sad, don't be mad, don't judge me, don't judge
anybody, it is my own decision for my quest to happiness. I found happiness
but it was too late and I made too many mistakes to be able to keep it next
to me. Many of you know that I was always looking for something, always
looking for somebody, and I traveled all around the world trying to find it.
I met the most extraordinary person and for the first in my life I was
really happy. Please, be happy for me, I did find the person to love forever
and even happiness, but it lost it, so now I found peace at least.

And yes, now you can read all about it online.

Good bye my Princess, Good bye all,

Marc"

Looked at Mirilli, homesickness perhaps as needing to find place in
world and Love as sadness due to lost love maybe relevant, Perhaps
lonliness. Very sad, Jean

Sweet Chestnut (brief)
This remedy is used for the treatment of depressive disorders (Mustard),
especially when suicide is threatened and there is deep-seated despair. The
drained inner self is rather void of emotional life, as in darkness. Despair
and despondency weigh heavily. For this reason, death may seem the only way
out of a hopeless, empty situation. A sense of meaninglessness of life may
lead to carelessness of attitude and despair.
... Sweet Chestnut stands out as the remedy most apt to retrieve from the
depth of utter despair and desolation. Agony and anguish, even unbearable
pains, are addressed effectively by this medicine.

3. Aurum metallicum or Aurum mur 30 as soon as pt stable and under
observation. Stay low to minimize aggravation. Repeat as needed (the
suicidal state has much energy to it -- could go through 30c fast, as if it
was an acute in which rx bear repetition. Adjust by going down or up in

Aurum rubrics/mm key in this case
Ailments from grief, disappointed love, with longing for death and suicide.
SUICIDAL DISPOSITION: LOVE, FROM DISAPPOINTED
SUICIDAL DISPOSITION: PREPARES HIMSELF SILENTLY.
Only remedy in RFW for the terms grief with love with suicide
Succeeds never. (at finding happiness and thus feels unfit for this world)

Aurum met likely the main rx and may handle the case for a long time in
ascending potencies as is appropriate or stay low if compliance good. Aurum
muriaticum possible also because the chloride ion may relate to the broken
relationship involved:

Muriaticum (Scholten): Broken relationship, Mother-Child, Care, Nurturing,
Attention, Mother, Self-pity, Attention seeking, Sadness, Alone, Anti-social

Aurum not necessary into broadcasting their suicide on the internet, but
this might be however out of intense loneliness in addition to despair.
Email suicide note does make a lot of sense as a way to make sure it is
read... He seems quite lucid and at peace with what he is about to do -- of

and "romantic self-destructiveness" (F. Eizayaga). They search until they
burn out at a young age which is their expectation. (Travel, desires) -- how
old was this person and did they really travel around the world? This rx of
course not indicated for the acute suicidal state though of course tub can
be suicidal... Perhaps somewhere in the case; or another tubercular rx.

(aurum is syphilitic (self destructive), Tub is theoretically analogous in
terms of metamiasmatic theme (from classical homeopaths) to "psora" plus
"syphilis" (tubercular pt. is *romantically* self-destructive)

But this case probably straight-up Aurum met or Aurum mur.

and is a sycotic (obsessive remedy) --but not known (yet or by proving) for
suicidal feelings but could be involved as a theoretical candidate to rule
out...

=======
There are a few ideas. Interesting to see some other ones...

There was a homeopath in the SF Bay area who shot himself a few years back
and planned everything out perfectly without telling anyone beforehand. A
colleague of mine watched and grieved and saw Aurum retroactively as may be
the case here...

Dear Caro, is this from a film or a book (The Other Side, maybe),
otherwise I feel it isn't so good to discuss this.

However, this is love sickness and in the presence of the 'ideal
woman', she being a 'princess' so he is lost and or possessed by her,
someone of rank (whether true or not it becomes his ideal) so from a
remedy point of view I would suggest Tilia - apart from being love sick
they feel totally alone in the world and as Jean suggested there is a
sense of being homeless and they will be searching out that need for
love.

Making sure everyone can read about this online can be taken different
ways - too late, catch me in time, advertising an independent act
(typical of the malvales family to communicate in the latter choice =
the estrangement has gone too far, they are too detached now and their
journey to the other side has already begun).

Aurum wouldn't write a note such as this. If they get to the suicide
stage things are too black, too deep and very grim, there is no time to
write a love letter such as this.

I think I have written this before but Psora will think about suicide
but probably won't, too scared, could happen by accident though.
Sycosis will be more inclined but just in case they don't mean it they
will try to make sure someone is around to save them, can happen by
accident as well. Syphilis mean it, do it, and sometimes do it as
revenge.

How someone 'chooses' this route as they cross the line can be an
indication of their living emotional state and miasmatic influence.

How you proceed is totally dependent on each individual case, you make
yourself available, you talk to family and friends, you do what you can
and if you can't be there either as a homeopath or more, then pass the
case on and make sure there is someone available. Best wishes, Joy

Dear Jean, Andy, Hakam, Joy:
Those are very interesting approaches. Unfortunately, it is a real life
story. It happened recently on the campus where I work and last week Marc's
note has been circulating many listservers of the university.
I see how you feel it isn't so good to discuss it, Joy. It is a delicate
subject.
However, Marc's death is being discussed by many people, precisely because
he chose to make it available through the internet, and also because his
family has decided to treat the subject as openly as possible. It was his
brother who contacted the different student groups and made sure Marc's last
words reached everyone.
I feel it is the healthiest approach to the situation, precisely because the
more it is explored and spoken of, the more these cases can be prevented in
the future. I also think that it is important to study these cases in the
light of homeopathy. We know the difference it can make.
Off course how we proceed depends on the individual. I never met this boy
and now it really is too late to help him, but, who knows, maybe someone
will have a patient with a similar story and having shared thoughts of this
might provide more remedy options for the treatment.
Andy, now that you mention Bach's flower essences, I had meant to ask the
list if some of you worked with them along with homeopathy. Do you
completely stop the flower essences before starting with homeopathy? Have
you found they interfere with one another? That was a very interesting post
that I still have to re-read. I still don't know how he did it, I haven't
seen the girl who sent me the note in days.
I had thought of Tub, Ign and Aurum, not Mirilli, Tilia or Sequoia.
I was just sharing thoughts with someone else on the hidden suicidal
disposition of Psora. The differences between Psora, Syph, Syc and
Pseudo-Psora as far as the topic goes are very interesting. Apparently this
boy was very sociable (belonged to many student groups, had many friends)
and he was in the US as an exchange student from France. I guess it makes me
think of Tub again.
Best Wishes,
Caro.

Very sad. Tilia also has a delusion about being watched which makes me
think that the 'announcement' about being able to read about this
online is much the same thing as observing. Also, most of the malvales,
as I understand them, need to be on the move, searching for their
ideals in life because they feel perpetually estranged. I would read
about this group - very interesting. Tuberculinum are both hopeful and
yet abusive - didn't see this. Best wishes, Joy

((( Nice idea Joy -- fits the situation in an essence sense almost to a tee
-- the "homeless" interpretation in the proving of Tilia could fit very well
with the tubercular endless search for happiness with someone -- though
Sankaran puts it in sycosis (obsession). The fact that he wrote this: "it
is my own decision for my quest to happiness" does not sound so aurum-
depressive. The "detachment" which devastates tilia could be a way to
describe the note --"I found happiness but it was too late and I made too
many mistakes to be able to keep it next to me." "I did find the person to
love forever and even happiness, but it lost it, so now I found peace at
least."

So, tilia matches the essence picture well from the note. Tilia could be
suicidal, but it is not in any mm or repertory at least yet. However, we
dont know all that much about the remedy and how it could play out and the
interpret. of proving is suggestive.
In defense of aurum, I took the cardinal sx - the fact that suicide did
eventuate (more toward syphilitic) as more important than the relatively
cheery note.
on 1/16/06 3:24 AM, Joy Lucas at joylucas@mac.com wrote:

((( No reason in particular IMHO that Aurum would not write a note -- (all
that is aurum is not precipitous -- and what is characteristic is that they
do not tell anyone beforehand because they are serious to do it -- "This boy
never gave any warning signs.") I agree the internet is a bit more public
than the flavor of aurum, but this persons relative "cheeriness" could be
for public consumption.
Lovesick: ant-c., hydrog., ign., ol-suc., ozone, pip-m., Til.

is indeed a great description of the state. But the eventual suicide from
disappointed love which is a grief state similar to lovesickness is probably
equally well described by :

--disappointed love
--ailments fr. disappointed love

in an rx that is truly suicidal.

This person was looking for happiness and never succeeded and felt he never
succeeded

--succeeds never

Crossing all those Aurum comes through.

Disappointed [sen] love [rem] suicidal/suicide [rem] succeeds [sen] never:
acon., am-c., Aur., calc., cham., con., 2hell., lach., mur-ac., nat-m.,
2nux-v.5, 2phos., 3Psor.

AURUM
--Disappointed love, with weeping and inclination to commit suicide.

--Aurum is also "Royalty" "Good bye my Princess, Good bye all"
This analysis for Aurum depends more on the mm as we know it and the symptom
suicidal as the pilot; while the tilia idea depends on intepretation
(essence) of the idealization of one person and the note itself. Both are
possible IMHO -- and the rest of the case if we had it might have fleshed it
out to confirm.

Best,
A

A group of plants, shrubs, trees that also include subgroups as well -
from Sankaran's grouping he places the following:- Abroma, Abelmoschus,
Cacao, Chocolate, Gossypium, Kola nut, Tilia cordata, Tilia europaea.

The whole group is about gaining and then losing. Losing through
suicide being the ultimate but it can take many forms, remember
Jeremy's dog and chocolate - unattainable as it is the 'food of the
gods' but the dog took it and it was poisonous (to dogs) and the dog
died almost instantly. You could call this group the romeo and juliet
show :-)
