My sister constantly speaks of feeling emotionally "smashed", "compressed",
"squished", as if there was too much gravity and she were stuck to the
ground. She's referring to a depression of spirits, but there's definitely a
theme, since it's the way she always describes her emotional state when she
feels down. Out of pure intellectual curiosity, any remedies that call
specifically for this?
Thanks!
C.

Makes me think about insects - apis, scorpion and the like. These
descriptions would be excellent avenues to explore further but never
enough on their own. Best wishes, Joy

Dear Caro, you might want to ask your sister to expand on what this means to
her, what the feeling is, as if what's happenning, etc....
Using Sankaran's methods of case analysis, this constant referral to a
sensation probably corresponds to a plant family. The lillies, for
instance, correspond to the sensations "Forced out, squeezed, extruded,
oppressed, constrained, constricted, excluded, left out, neglected." In
response the person feels s/he must hold on tight, and also must move.
Their compensation is to engage in seductive attractive behavior, so that
they get a feeling of belonging, being included.
Other possible plant families that ight correspond would be the
anacardaceiae (caught, stiff tight, tension, stuck, cramping, pressing)
resulting in feeling paralyzed and immobile. In compensation, they move or
move around constantly.
Also, of course, the Cactacae come to mind (constricted, made smaller,
shrunk, contracted, bound, trapped, pressed, downtrodden, oppressed,
clutched, weighed down -- resulting in feeling trapped. In response they
have to expand. )
Sometimes you have to expand the client's description of the sensation
(until they get to where they can't find words any more, and are using hand
gestures instead -- the nature of the hand gestures often helps to
distinguish between similar sensations).
If you can identify the likely plant family (ies) and a miasm is relatively
clear, this gives you some important clues for studying Materia Medica of a
restricted number of probably remedies. Sometimes this method works
brilliantly to find a Simillimum that you would otherwise not find simply by
repertorizing. It's a method worth considering where you are starting out
with a strong sensation that the patient repeatedly refers to.

LOL, I'll look up Squashinum, Simon:-)
Thanks so much, guys. She and I have talked thoroughly about this sensation.
She's very much of a Melancholic type, and Hippocratic Melancholic remedies
suit her very well (intellectual/philosophical, slim, airy nature). She's
very healthy so we're just in a "study mode", taking her as an example,
versus a "healing needed asap" mode.
Her hand gestures when describing the sensation are pushing down (although
she says not to have "bearing down" sensations), and the main feeling is
immobility. The compensation at those times is immobility too.
We were looking for something along the sides of Rosemary's and Joy's
answers. Those sensations that relate to a specific kingdom... Very
interesting!!! I haven't read those Sankaran books but every time you guys
mention them I want to buy them badly, although they're pretty expensive.
As she's my sis you can imagine how thoroughly her case has bee taken, and
we've exhausted what she means by this sensation. This "squished" is the way
she feels sad, deppressed and with no desire to do anything, or talk, etc.,
etc.. As you may guess we've looked at all the related rubrics and remedies.
Our aim is not to post her case but more to study and learn how to take a
case exactly as Rosemary's Sankaran description and Joy's intuitive relation
to the insect kingdom (not to mention Simon's brilliant suggestion:-)) .
I guess the big question now would be: should I buy those Sankaran's books?
Other book suggestions?
Thanks a lot,
Caro.

YOU ONLY NEED TO BUY THE SENSATION OF HOMEOPATHY .........Amazon wants a 165
bucks but U can get if from minimum books for 85, This books combines all
the others from what I can tell except the The Insights into Plants.
There are two methods of finding the absolute simillimum coming out of the
same marriage in India.....one comes from Divya and the other from Rajan (who
are married to each other)..........Divya traces the 4th level of experience
of the non spherically human language which The Bombay school calls the
delusional level.....and traces the keywords here to the non human song (mineral,
animal, or plant) that has the human by its grip disturbing the vital
sensation. These keywords and method of case taking directs the patient to their
deep suffering that has been buffered by their conditioned ego and reasoning
mind. Down in the depths of the unconscious beyond the mind and body one can
come to the source which uncovers the remedy, according to them I might add as
I am still just a student studying this.
I find this fascinating. Rajan goes down to the fifth level of the vital
sensation to get to the kingdom,,,,,,,sub kingdom and then down to the
remedy.......Here is his essay which I really liked he wrote about his work. I think
he describes the seven levels of experience in it. If not. let me know and I
will email the seven levels of experience from the book to the site.

Thanks a lot, "hermeswins". I find Dyva's method extremely interesting but
haven't got a clue of Rajan's. I'll read the article carefully.
