Minerals
Re: Minerals
From Kent's lectures on Materia Medica about motion:
Ferrum metallicum:
A strange thing running through all the constitutional conditions of
Ferrum is that the pains and sufferings come on during rest. The
palpitation sometimes comes on during rest, the dyspnoea comes on
during rest, and even the weakness. The patient is ameliorated by
moving gently about, but any exertion tires and causes faintness. Any
rapid motion aggravates the complaints. The pains are ameliorated by
moving about the house slowly, so that the exertion does not excite
or fatique.
Ferrum arsenicum:
The longer he lies the more resless he becomes; must get up and walk
about. Motion aggravates inflamed parts, but ameliorates the patient.
Desire to move.
Ferrum iodatum:
Motion increases many symptoms; desire to move.
Ferrum phosphoricum:
Many symptoms are worse lying in bed and from rest, and ameliorated
by moving slowly about, but the great lassitude compels him to lie
down. Motion that is a real exertion aggravates, but slow motion
ameliorates.

Re: Minerals
I have some info on Ferrum disease that everyone may be interested in.
I have typed some of it up - from the text. There is some more that may be
of interest - eg., the time dimension of Ferrum.
I will only bother to type it up though, if it is deemed acceptable to the
current study, which seems to have succumbed to various rules and conditions
which could deem this information not suitable, it being gleaned over the
years due to methodological study that was diligently undertaken by the ICR
homoeopaths from India and may not be 'old enough' .

Ferrum: Functional to structural phase
Ferrum’s Hypersensitivity along with its inherent Excitability, debility and
changeability forms the Core of the Ferrum personality.
Ferrum is a sentimental person with multiple desires and attachments.
Initially he pursues them with enthusiasm. Later, his changeability,
excitability and the erratic outburst of emotions leave him depleted –
mentally and physically. He lacks the will and drive to pursue any matter to
its conclusion. He becomes indecisive, confused and incompetent. The
realization of this incompetence gives rise to sadness, guilt, anxiety and
vexation.
The turmoil thus generated manifests itself in different ways in different
individuals, thus giving ruse to the entire spectrum of the Ferrum
personality.
The Ferrum who takes the path of overt expression gets angry at the
slightest contradiction and at times, drives himself to violence. This
volatile anger sours his relationships with everyone, robbing him of the
sympathy he desires and consequently filling him with remorse. He becomes
anxious from the slightest cause and this disturbs his vasomotor system
profoundly.
When reality becomes a painful experience, the overt reactions decrease and
conflicts continue to simmer in the subconscious. His nostalgia is reflected
in his dreams of meeting old friends and of relatives long dead, as also in
the dreams and thoughts of the old, secure school days. His inability to
fight in reality makes him fight in his dreams – he gets dreams of battles,
fights and wars.
Ferrum indulges in sex (especially sexual thoughts) to divert his attention
from reality and this adds to his debility and guilt.
At the stage when the mind loses touch with reality, he gets delusions of
being at war. His guilt is expressed through delusions of having committed
some crimes; his anxiety through delusions of being pursued and the like.
Thus, he eventually becomes paranoid.
In another type of Ferrum, the suppressed anger and hostility may express
violence at the physical level as violent congestions. The congestions are
brought on by least emotion, exertion and pain. Ferrum congestions have one
peculiarity. Because of the inherent Tubercular trait of erratic or patchy
responses, he gets congestions of single parts, for example, the face. This
is the false plethora of an otherwise anaemic patient and the part which is
congested may surprisingly be cold to touch.
The hypersensitivity of the immune system manifests itself in the form of
multiple food and drug allergies (refer Conceptual Image). The major victims
of this are the skin, the gastro-intestinal system and the respiratory
system.
The skin suffers from urticaria and eczema.
The gastrointestinal system has its share of flatulent dyspepsia, recurrent
gastritis, the Irritable Bowel Syndrome and Ulcerative Colitis.
The respiratory system expresses its hypersensitivity by producing allergic
rhinitis, allergic bronchitis and bronchial asthma. Ferrum also has
spasmodic cough and changeability of the voice.
The aberrant immune system of Ferrum may also lead to thyrotoxicosis and
rheumatic affections.
Ferrum has debility from loss of vital fluids, due to haemorrhages,
diarrhoea or nocturnal emissions. Ferrum debility also results from poor
assimilation.
This leads to various types of anaemia – the anaemia of deficiency, the
anaemia due to blood loss and the anaemia of chronic diseases. Thus, splenic
and hepatic enlargements are often seen. Bones soften and become prone to
easy fractures, which heal slowly. Relaxation of muscles leads to easy
sprains, prolapse of organs and varicosities. Impaired venous return leads
to passive hyperemia and dropsy. Debility of the vascular system leads to
haemorrhages. Due to debility of the immune system, Ferrum patients take a
comparatively longer time to recover from any infection, for example
Pneumonia. Ferrum also becomes a good customer for Tuberulosis.
The hypersensitivity, excitability, changeability and debility of Ferrum
accelearate the process of senility. The degenerative processes
characterized by atherosclerotic changes in the blood vessels lead to
hypertension and ischaemia of vital organs. Ischaemia of the brain leads to
paresis, incoordination of movements, poor control of sphincters and
eventually paralysis. All these are seen in the final syphilitic phase of
the Ferrum disease.

Re: Minerals
Dreams of the Ferrums in Kent's repertory
Absurd – Ferr-m
Anxious – Ferr; Ferr-ar, Ferr-i, Ferr-p
Battles - Ferr
Confused – Ferr, Ferr-i, Ferr-p
Dead, friends long deceased / relatives – Ferr
Events, previous / long past – Ferr-i, Ferr-p
Fantastic – Ferr-i
Fights – Ferr, Ferr-i
Friends, of old – Ferr
Many – Ferr
Nightmare – Ferr, Ferr-i, Ferr-p
Robbers, of fighting with – Ferr-i
Unpleasant – Ferr, Ferr-i
Vivid – Ferr, Ferr-i, Ferr-p
Water, falling into – Ferr
Just an impression. I must have overlooked some and I do not know if
they are all original provingsymptoms.
But why would he dream about long past events? Is it because he is to
busy doing what he has to do, that he remembers the past not before
he got sick.
Why would he dream about long deceased friends? Is it that he now
thinks about them after a long time.
The dreams about fights and battles are they about the doing things
his own way?
The falling in the water then I have to think about Iron, that is so
strong, but there is very fast decay because with the Oxygen in the
water it will rust.
Why is only Ferr-i in the fight with robbers and no other Ferrums? Is
that because Ferr alone is not so much about holding on to things so
much , but more achieving?
Also is only Ferr-i in the rubric fantastic. Maybe it will turn out
to be that the Iodium part has more imagination then Ferrum itself.
Well, I know that there are not so much answers maybe, but I find
this very interesting

Re: Minerals
Gee, Robyn -- sounds fascinating to me. Personally, I think that whatever original work based on clinical or proving experience gets into circulation as a result of this project, will mark the project as a brilliant success. Hope you do share it. (of course that's just my opinion, and if everyone else on the list thinks otherwise, please still send it to me privately
)))

Re: Minerals
I also would love to see it. My vote would be to simply attach any
appropriate caveats (e.g. "gleaned through clinical experience rather
than proving", or whatever).

Re: Minerals
Maybe that is what we could do next week, along with seminarnotes,
personal cases and other more recent material, including Plutonium
nitricum.
Then we could save this week for original material.
Personaly I do not have so much on that myself, but I did find the
original proving of Ferrum on the Minutus website.
Maybe most of you already knew this, but I will post the link in a
seperate mail anyway.
Then maybe someone else knows where to find the original provings of
other Ferrum's and Osmium.

Well shall we expand the pictures of Ferrum and Osmium and add
Plutonium. Who will post provings, cases, seminarnotes, websites,
specific repertoryrubrics (like those of Robin where I was personaly
very happy with), books, articeles, websites, etc.
Then next week catalogue everything and make a synoptic comparison of
each element and its compounds like Andy volunteered.
And the week after that we can add Ruthenium and Samarium and then
get to the theme of stage 8 seen from different points of view like
Scholten and like Joy did in her recent mail.
Hope this week will be profound and extensive.

Re: Minerals
Hello,
I have missed some posts so maybe it has already been discused. If so..sorry. I am not understanding what the different stages on the periodic table you are discussing. I know about rows and columns and stages of health towards failure but not necessarly stages that are listed in numbers as stage 8. I am understanding that there is depleation here in this stage. I am assuming that stage 9 and on is moving closer to the failed state. Am I correct here?
Was it Scholten that named these stages? If not where can I read more specifically about them?
Thanks for your help.

Re: Minerals
Hi all
Well I don't think that there will come much for stage 8 anymore.
Should we start with stage 1 (Lithium, Natrium, Kalium etc) next
month, or should this better be done only with a small group of
people privately, who are interested and willing to participate.
Any ideas or comments?
