Hi Sam,
Well, and you should understand why people who do NOT go by a
pseudonym ARE touchy - at least if they have a reputation to protect.
(I don't - so I am not:-) )

On the German list pseudonyms are frowned upon - they are not
"forbidden" but "it just is not done". There are cat and dog fights
also, indeed - - but all in all there is a more professional way of
interacting, including the absence of poisonous private mails. After
all - who would want to read on the list that "Mr/Ms X, at such and
such adress has sent me a nasty email, the content of which I cannot,
by the laws of netiquette, post on the list;-) "

So I guess we all have to crawl behind a firewall called pseudonym;-(

Naturally - if you need to develop your reputation using a group, you
need to protect it too - I can forgive the touchiness...
