The fact is
that AIDS viruses have been around for more than a thousand
years, and that is long before anyone thought up the term
"virus". AIDS viruses occur in at least 36 species
of monkey and chimpanzees in sub-Saharan Africa. AIDS has
also been present in cat species as far back as we have
specimens to test (the oldest being in Australia), also a
very long time ago. There is nothing new about AIDS
viruses.
Each species
of cat or species of monky or species of chimpanzee, has its
own versioon of AIDS virus that does not infect other
species of cat/monkey/chim. Lentiviruses (AIDS viruses are
all lentiviruses) cannot ordinarily jump species; they
need a mutation, usually a cross-over mutation ( where two
chromosomes cross each other during replucation and swap
chomosome bits) to achieve this. Crossover mutations occur
naturally but extremely rarely. SO over the past more than a
thousand years (we cannot find specimens to test further
back), there are several dozen different forms of AIDS, each
species specific, including two forms in a single
chimpanzee, and ONE form in humans, the latter of which
shows a crossover mutation from a very specific chimpanzee
AIDS, so not just any of the more than 36 primate versions
known in Africa but a very specific one, was teh virus from
which human AIDS originated.
Becasue of the way genetic mutations
of this kind can be followed like a road map, it is possible
to know which one came from which other one, and so to
determine which is the oldest and which is the newest and
what order the mutations occurred. This is relatively new
research, but some of the viruses are thousand-plus years
old.The mutation to adapt the cimpanzee one to
man, is the most recent mutation and the cat AIDS viruses
(called FIVs rather than HIVs came before the HIV, were next
most recent (and in large cats like lions and cheetahs etc,
it was only discovered in 1994 by Prof F.StJ,van der Riet at
UCT, forst published in PAwPrint, my publication, with
photos of the virus) and the various other primate forms in
chimps and monkeys (called SIVs for simian immunodeficinecy
virus) go back further in genetic age even than Feline
ones. The order of evolution over more than
a thousand years, was Chimpanzee-Monkey-Cats-Humans, with 36
known mutations between the various primates, and a yet to
be determined number in cats, but each species has its
own.
In animals some
of the AIDS viruses are present but do not cause disease, as
the animal has evolved so many hundreds or thousands of
years since the first AIDS virus that they have developed a
resistance to them. MOST of the SIVs do not cause the
immunodeficiency syndrome in primates.In cats the
syndrome varies by cat species. The FIV in most large wild
cats does not cause disease, but the one in domestic cats
is relatively new (despite going back as far as we have
domestic cat material to test) and it is indeed like the
human one in causing immune system compromise to the point
of killing the host.
That said, the one in lions is only
inactive in the wild. As soon as the large wild cats are in
captivity and given immune system destroying vaccinations
(as they nearly all are esp in USA) then the FIV can and
does become immune compromising with AIDS illness
presenting.
Humans
and domestic cats have not had their version of the AIDS
lentivirus long enough to evolve resistance even if not
vaccinated. It likely takes thousands of years to evolve
that way, but it is the normal way viruses work. They
initially kill or seriously affect their victims, but the
virus itslef woudl die out if it was 100% lethal and
infected enough victims. SO it is the natural course of
events that the victim/host gradually develop resistance so
that the virus itself can survive.
There
is also a lot more govt sponsored research on diseases that
is pretty sinister.
The history of retroviruses in
animals goes back many decades.
No, they go back thousands of years,
including the lentiviruses that cause AIDS
syndromes.
There are
many retroviruses. Lentiviruses are a subset - a genus - of
retrovirus, with the specific feature that they can live in
cells that are not replicating. HIV, FIVs and SIVs, are
all lentiviruses.The HIV virus arrived in man via
a chimpanzee SIV.Each HIV, FIV or SIV, can ONLY
infect ONE specific species so if your cat has FIV it ca not
give you HIV. ANd if you have HIV, you can not give your
monkey SIV.
The
species jumping happens only very rarely via mutation - not
via zoonotic contagion - maybe one mutation to jump species
in hundreds of years.Man got that mutation in
mid-20 century, from a cimpazee.
Not via some invented
conspiracy.The AIDS viruses have been around MUCH
longer than man has heard of viruses.
I think biotech was
more advanced and sinisterthan
you recognize.
You seem to forget that
untrustworthy scientists come from training grounds the rest
of us also use.Good universities are the training
grounds.
Misapplication of what they learn is
possibe but what you suggest is like asking first graders to
fly to the moon.We are not there yet, however
wild the conspiracy inventions.
Many (natural as man can not make
them) strains of viruses are kept in labs supposedly for
research.They are not manufactured there but some
may be grown in viral culture to grow more.
