Re: Eggs
Well, we did get a young female, caught her feasting on the carcass of a lamb (not sure if she killed it, she was small and the body was dragged about 10 feet), Have seen only one fox since, walking down the street in front of my driveway, maybe they got the hint, but I doubt it.
Wild rabbits seem to be disappearing, now if they would only have a craving for squirrel we have lots of them to spare.

Re: Eggs
Fox urine is supposed to deter rabbits, and would have to be sure it is really fox urine and not a chemical that has that kind of smell.
Once I got lion poop from a visiting circus, that deterred a few critters for awhile.

Re: Eggs
A most excellent presentation, Ginny.
I want to add that I made a sort of little mistake. My rational for the goodness of the "whites" was paleo, which is not untrue. But a better convincer would have been the functional argument. Is it not amazing the the little chick can grow from absolutely nothing to a baby chick all the while living exclusively on the built in life support of the egg, both the yolk and the "whites". That is a lot of concentrated energy and nutrition. The "whites" can't be neutral and they can't be negative. It must necessarily be health and growth beneficial or else those little chicks would not have hatched and lived.
I do not discount the other Roger's report of biotin deficiency thanks to 6 raw eggs per day. I do await further information and reports. I eat about 2 raw eggs per day. I wonder what the diet of the other Roger was.

Safe but stupid would sum it up:) The egg is a total package, and the yolk is the best part. As Shannon pointed out, there is absolutely nothing wrong with eating fats of all kinds, including so-called high cholesterol ones. Fat is good food! Cholesterol is formed in the body as a kind of bandaid for damaged blood vessels, and more is formed for this purpose than can ever be provided by diet. The damage is caused by drugs and other inappropriate substances and diet items, and the cholesterol only fills in where lack of various antioxidants, mainly Vit C, allows poor healing of the lesions formed. Not only is cholesterol a good thing in this case, but its presence in high amounts demonstrates the existence of damage and the need for better nutrition. Allopathic medicine, as usual, tries to erase a valuable symptom and call that a cure!
And also as usual, a varied diet of whole natural foods obviates most damage, and eggs are a fine and aboriginal part of that diet.

But we now know also that cholesterol comes in many forms, some very good, some not so good. We also now know that dietary cholesterol in food is the beneficial kind and only the body can make the nasty stuff from fat that results from carbohydrate intake.
So carbohydrates in the diet are the only potential dietary source of "bad" cholesterol. They cause it indirectly, by getting dumped as metabolically active fat.
Cholesterol in food, as in eggs, HELPS the situation instead.
The devil is in the details - in this case the devil is the carbs eaten in excess of need, which are dumped as cholesterol-making and cortisol-making fat! A vicious circle of the nasty fat dumped centrally.
Cholesterol in food actually comes to the rescue, we NEED it!

Re: Eggs
Even the thought of fishy did not enter my mind. My cod liver oil is TwinLabs, cherry tasting. I don't know if that makes a difference.
There are people who make kefir out of coconut milk, but they have to use milk every few batches or else the grains will die. I am thinking about making kefir out of mostly milk but adding some coconut milk.

Sounds delicious! Unfortunately I am apparently intolerant to some *protein* part of dairy -- even raw organic, and even goat, and (sob) even kefir. But now I sometimes do something similar (not usually quite as deliciously elaborate, tho) using coconut milk instead of kefir, which is also very tasty. But cod liver oil, wow, I have to say I would never have thought nor dared to put *that* into a smoothie! Doesn't it taste awfully fishy no matter how much you dilute it….?

There must be tons of unused, discarded yolks since so much liquid egg whites are sold.

Re: Eggs
Are you using them to learn how to juggle? I hear three is trickier than two:-)
I often have 4 raw and 2 lightly cooked per day. I don't know if odd numbers will work as well:-)
Kidding aside, I have tried living on eggs and milk a while as my only animal protein sources, (for financial reasons) but found I craved others, so I suspect they are NEAR perfect but not perfect:-)
Namaste,
Irene
