I am pretty sure it is not lymes. He had had this limp in the se place several other times after running off leash.

Whether Lyme or not, this seems to me to be a chronic disease issue, an ongoing weakness, possibly from insult, original trauma or possibly the cause of such. There could have been ligament damage, where the joint is now unsupported and prone to strain. I would not hesitate to contact a good animal homeopath with decent people skills:) I would also pursue a diagnosis through examination or scan by a good orthopedist. With certain injuries, there is a characteristic development which helps mask the injury, and this should be observable. I like my vet/hom, so ask privately if you like.
