I rarely express my beliefs about abortion, for fear they will be
misinterpreted as the right-to-life dogma people have heard too much of.
Realizing the complexity and painfulness of the issue, I usually just keep
empathetic quiet and pray for everyone.
It's ironic that my father, who sexually abused me and my sister, was one of
the first people working to change the US abortion laws in the late sixties.
He and his girlfriend used to help women get to Mexico for abortions until
they became legal here.
My feeling is that life is sacred, that taking life always has serious
consequences, whether acknowledged or not. I am a vegetarian and am opposed
to the death penalty for the same reason.
Again, though, to avoid contributing to the agony of this whole issue by
seeming judgemental of others' decisions, I have followed the advice others
have mentioned: "If you don't believe in abortion, don't have one."
My own experience with pregnancy and birth is that all four of my children
have come into difficult situations. The father of the first two is
schizophrenic, and all of the kids were brought up in relative poverty.
Nevertheless, I had an innate faith that somehow everything would work out,
and it has. All of the children are such marvelous individuals. I can't
imagine not having any one of them, despite the emotional and physical
hardship of bringing them up. They have been a major part of my life
lessons.
Especially now, I believe and perceive that the souls incarnating are
astoundingly conscious. A number of spiritual teachers and psychics talk
about this phenomenon, calling them the "Children of the Blue Ray"
(Gordon-Michael Scallion), the "Millennium Children" (Caryl Dennis--see
www.millennium.com), and the "Indigo Children." These children are being
sent in to help with a global shift to higher awareness. I trust that those
who are open to and welcome these children into the world will receive
unprecedented help and support in surprising ways.
God bless us!
