I rarely express my beliefs about abortion, for fear they will be
misinterpreted as the right-to-life dogma people have heard too much of.
Realizing the complexity and painfulness of the issue, I usually just keep
empathetic quiet and pray for everyone.
It's ironic that my father, who sexually abused me and my sister, was one of
the first people working to change the US abortion laws in the late sixties.
He and his girlfriend used to help women get to Mexico for abortions until
they became legal here.
My feeling is that life is sacred, that taking life always has serious
consequences, whether acknowledged or not. I am a vegetarian and am opposed
to the death penalty for the same reason.
Again, though, to avoid contributing to the agony of this whole issue by
seeming judgemental of others' decisions, I have followed the advice others
have mentioned: "If you don't believe in abortion, don't have one."
My own experience with pregnancy and birth is that all four of my children
have come into difficult situations. The father of the first two is
schizophrenic, and all of the kids were brought up in relative poverty.
Nevertheless, I had an innate faith that somehow everything would work out,
and it has. All of the children are such marvelous individuals. I can't
imagine not having any one of them, despite the emotional and physical
hardship of bringing them up. They have been a major part of my life
lessons.
Especially now, I believe and perceive that the souls incarnating are
astoundingly conscious. A number of spiritual teachers and psychics talk
about this phenomenon, calling them the "Children of the Blue Ray"
(Gordon-Michael Scallion), the "Millennium Children" (Caryl Dennis--see
www.millennium.com), and the "Indigo Children." These children are being
sent in to help with a global shift to higher awareness. I trust that those
who are open to and welcome these children into the world will receive
unprecedented help and support in surprising ways.
God bless us!

many are Buddhist, except when Buddhism condemns abortion. many are "mother
goddess" followers, except when they choose to ignore the fact that
primitive societies never practiced abortion...it seems the only philosphy
they really follow is 'what suits me.' their illogicity is matched only by
their hypocrisy.

Re:From Lisa
But I think (correct me if I'm wrong please) Soroush simply wanted to
understand why women feel the desire/need/urge to rid themselves of an
unborn baby - for whatever reasons - and could this be considered
pathological (?). This sparked off other conversations..... some he may
agree with - some maybe not....
There are many reasons WHY a woman may do it. I think one of the primary
ones would be lack of support for a baby. I had an abortion 12 years ago.
My boyfriend (who had said all the lovely things like "I love you", etc)
turned around and said "you have a choice of being a single Mum or not a
Mum." I was just 6 months out of Uni, my parents had just separted and I
was at a loss to know HOW I would cope with a child. Do I have the baby,
put it into full time child care at 6 weeks old and work full time to
support us ... or stay home and live on welfare? Who knows how those
particular scenarios would have worked out. Anyway, it took me 7 years to
come to terms with what I did. Even now, I am so desparte to have a child
and paranoid that I may not be able to have one ... and still waiting to
find a father!
I think the reasons would nearly always be emotional ... and the after
affects will be emotional as well.
You would be dealing with emotions like guilt, fear, loneliness, lack of
support, lack of love, etc.

Re: Abortion
I am so sorry that you had such a difficult time when you aborted. But it is just not true that all women exerience the feelings you had. You were in a difficult time in your life and probably made the best choice possible. As they say, that was then and this is now. There is no cause for guilt or remorse for making a choice that you felt was necessary at the time. Your situation would produce loneliness and fear, that, I think is normal. You were alone and that is frightening. I, too, had an abortion, actually more than one. I did not experience any of your emotions. I felt very clear in my choice. Yes, I had some thoughts about continuing the pregnancy (the first time, only), but they were based on what I think was romantic silliness. I was totally alone in my life, with no means of support. Emotionally, I was a wreck. To have continued would have been an attempt to escape from me and my problems. This is what young women, in particular, often do, looking for unconditional love that they can control (or so they think). When I wanted to have children, I made my choice and did so with no problem. I have never regretted aborting, nor have I ever regretted my 2 children, despite any problems that occurred in our lives. The fact that I made my choice and took full responsibillity for it, was very empowering. I find that I never have regrets over major life choices, when they truly are my choices. It makes acceptance very simple.

Re: Abortion
Dear All,
Some people have asked about the formula for abortion.
Actually, close study of our materia medica will clue you into the Rx's;
the information is not secret.
Since some people are sensitive to the controversy surrounding abortion, I
will not post it on this list. I will send it to anyone who writes me
privately.
Sincerely,
