I know this is addressed to Simon but... it depends what is happening to the
parathyroid glands - if they are enlarged, indurated or whatever you then
need to be more general as far as repping goes and leave out the specific
gland and go for the action on that gland. But Calc, calc fluor, calc phos,
parathyroid, kali iod, probably many of the thyroid affinity rx being in
such close proximity.

But be guided also by the whole case.

Hi Shannon,

I'm sorry I really can't remember all the details, it was about 10
years ago
I do remember that she had been diagnosed, and that the tests showed
she was better after treatment, she probably had the remedy for one or
two months at the most.. she wasn't on any other medications , was
otherwise pretty healthy. The relation that referred her to me
reported much later that she was still well. That's about it.

I can still picture her though quite clearly. She had a lot of
phosphorous qualities in her personality - very very open and
emotionally honest, not shying away from any topic, talkative without
being loquacious, yet direct and to the point with strong boundaries
and a confidence reminiscent of the good ol' colonial days. The only
other remedy that mentally cross referenced fleetingly was nat-m as
they can appear to have all the above qualities, but the keyword there
is APPEAR; this lady was emotionally real to her core (unlike N-M)

There was also a calcyness to her skin quality ( some people develop
a calc edge as they get older.) They may not be a full calc
constitutionally but you can see it in the skin, it's a clue, that's
all.
This is hardly repertorising! In fact I didn't repertorise the case at
all. It was only after she got better that I found C-p in the rubric.
I have no way of knowing whether she had been C-P all her life of moved
into it from Phos, I doubt she would have moved conversely from Calc
to phos.

The important points are that she was healthy enough to display a
clear remedy picture to me, and that she was prescribed for
constitutionally

It is logical to me that a Calc-p type would develop Calc-p type
pathology, so it was no surprise to find her remedy under her symptoms
in the rep when I did eventually look it up. To me her remedy was
crystal clear so I didn't need to know whether her Sx were in the rep
or not. It is my experience that if a remedy picture presents itself
REALLY CLEARLY then it will cure the Sx whether they're in the rep or
not. Half the time Sx in the full MM aren't in the reps, and also Rxs
sometimes cure Sx that aren't in either the MM or the reps, etc.. so I
only use the reps if I am not sure of the Rx, otherwise you run the
risk of discounting a perfectly good prescription because of a
failing in the repertories.

I remember the case because I was practicing developing a different
way of perceiving cases, involving something other than repertorising.
Perhaps we could call it practicing being THE PREJUDICED OBSERVER!:-)

Perhaps I should explain:

It wasn't that I disliked repertorising, after all I had MacRep (a
computer repertorising program) and a funky laptop, but I noticed two
things: One was that the remedy that cured wasn't invariably what came
out top in repertorising, or even what had the 'specifics of the
particulars', and: Two was that the repertory was usually agreeing with
what I already had in mind anyway.

This meant that I had to re-repertorise, trying to consciously remove
my obvious prejudice for a particular remedy, and to repertorise using
as many different methodologies as possible to find a way round my own
preconceptions; only to find that, if I had a clear idea of the
remedy in the first place, nothing was going to change that fact that
it was most probably the most indicated remedy whichever way you looked
at it.

Therefore I stopped repertorising where the remedy was clear or
becoming so, allowing me to concentrate more on the interaction between
myself and the client and to consciously develop my intuition, which
may sound like a contradiction in terms in that you can't force
intuition, but what I mean is I was practicing quieting the internal
chatter (as one writer puts it) and not censoring subtle impressions.

Only a small percentage of patients will engage easily in this process,
it isn't a technique that can be successfully applied to all and how
many depends on how well my abilities in this direction are functioning
on any particular day and how many clients are of this ilk.

I only ever prescribe this way if I want a gentle continuous approach and I agree about 1 dose and stop will be the same as a dry dose.

Very nice! Yes, I've also noticed that repping is only a *clue* to possible
remedies, and that sometimes repping (esp. with my still imperfect skills,
not to mention imperfect repertories) misses the needed remedy altogether.

Do you remember what her most pressing symptoms were -- were they symptoms
related to high calcium levels or other obvious calcium issues, or was she
being treated on strength of the lab results (which I guess would mean she
was lucky enough to get appropriate treatment before becoming symptomatic!),
or was that more incidental, do you recall?

You're right, Andy. Sicica is the mother of calcium metabolism, according to
my old nutrition lecturer.
Should also be useful to prevent dental caries rather than fluoring, in my
opinion.

Re previous email. You CAN OD on any fat soluble vitamin - any vitamin or
mineral, in fact. Symptoms of OD are usually identical to deficiency Sxs.
