Hello Linda,
I am having a bit of a problem understanding your email. You said you use pulsatilla to prevent infections (AND) when you do not want to rebreed every heat?
second part - Why do I give pulsatilla routinely when an animal is due to give birth?
I have a mixed farm, mostly herbs and medicinal botanicals, some table crops and livestock,
That incudes (now) 3 cows, a dozen goats, dozen sheep, Miss Piggy (aka Bacon) and some of her last litter, poultry of all kinds, dogs and cats.
Two and a half years ago lost 5 baby goats - (2 moms and 6 babies) lost the nanny carrying 4 kids, and one of the twins from the other nanny, same year had a transverse lamb with a hip presentation both of those situations were long and difficult deliveries that needed intervention. Not good, and no the sires were not too big for the girls! Started giving Pulsatilla 200C to all pregnant animals as close to the week before the delivery date as I could determine. Has not had a problem since. Labor starts and within a short period of time the young one is born quickly, cleanly and effortlessly.
We have fed in the morning with nothing amiss, gone out an hour later to a baby on its feet and nursing. So quickly and cleanly. Sure beats what I have seen for many, many years (have raised sheep for 37 years). I am sold on the protocal.
Warmly, Maria

Re: Cat question
Thank you Victoria, you are very kind.
50% of kitten/puppy births are breech, which in some cases does result in sections. What I think causes most sections is a lack of good contractions, combined with being breech, resulting in section. Does pulsatilla help with hormones? Or does it just make the babies turn to engage the head?
I have bred most of my life. First, Golden American Saddlebreds, then Bouviers, now Birmans. The cats are the most difficult of all!

Re: Cat question
HI Marie, how very interesting!
As to your question, cats call-a lot! Way too often to breed everytime, so I was told that since you risk pyo infection, use pulsatilla 200c to prevent from infection setting in.
All of my info comes from a vet homeopathic that sadly passed away last year.
She also recommended using CAULOPHYLLUM 30c starting at week 5 of preg, and increasing by 1 dose every week until birthing starts. So 1 dose wk 5, 2 doses separate days wk 6, 3 doses-separate days wk 7 etc. This can also be used instead of oxytocin also during labour. It is supposed to help with a shorter easier labour. Now it has worked with some cats, but not others.
So you are giving 1 dose app 1 wk before delivery? Since your animals are much larger then a cat, would you still use 200c ? I have heard the higher potency, then less often you need to give, but in your case, you are only using 1 dose.
I wish I could find a homeopathic that understood cats & breeding as I much prefer homeopathics over drugs.

Re: Cat question
Hi Linda, I usually put the remedy in a one ounce eye dropper bottle. For sheep and goats about a half eyedropper for the cow I took a dinner roll opened it up, squirted some remedy on each side and fed it to her. Piggy was not that easy. Dig a hole in an apple, sprinkled a few pellets on it and handed it to her. All 200c.
I used caulophyllum with a bitch once. Thought she was done whelping, it brought back the labor and delivered a few more puppies many many hours after the rest of the litter. I thought I was using it to close up the uterus.
