is a natural healing crises.

The reason this happens is because it is innate in the human
constitution and temperament. Psychology works the same way as the process
of analysis usually runs in the reverse order until the causal rubrics are
uncovered. If the patient can relive the original experience in a similar
but not identical manner as the original experience their mental and
physical health improves. This is all according to homeopathic law. Most
successful psychology is based on similars will that which is based on
opposites produce repression rather than cure.

I can't comment on an individual cases because I don't know the causes,
symptoms and circumstances involved. I can only say that when the process
of healing moves from within to without, from the more important to lesser
spheres, from a above to below, from the mental to physical plane, and in
the reverse order of symptoms the case is moving in the correct direction.
When the symptoms move from without to within, from the less important to
more important spheres, from below to above, from the physical to the
mental, and new symptoms appear the case is getting worse.

So in this case of Reiters syndrome in an allopathic MD physician
(joint pains, chest pain, joint swellings, balanitis, urethritis,
etc... along with chronic amoebiasis - that he kept taking antibiotics
for) he has been on Lycopodium for 2 years, doing very well. HE felt
about 95% cured and was off all allopathic support for pain. HE
thought he was finally cured.

Till a suddenly in May, some old symptoms came up that simply wouldn't
respond. (he restarted his painkillers) ON re-working the case, he was
clearly in Sycotic miasm still so Nat Sulph seemed well indicated.
Especially at this point his mental state was concentrated on grief
remembering a disppointed love of about 7 years back.
One dose seems to perform miracles (physically and mentally),
Unfortunately he took it upon himself to repeat a 30C daily.... So I
have no idea what the NAt SUlph did, though the grief passed off.

But it aggravated his physical symptoms into a sharper picture that
suggested Sepia both physcally and mentally. By now he was right in
the middle of this "healing crisis". Despair of recoevery, depressed,
etc. Tihs lasted almost a month - waiting for the slow improvement. My
only explanation to him was to explain about this Healing Crisis.
SInce he is an MD, he knew anyway with allopathy he was doomed - so he
may as well hang on to my hopefulness.

My instinct was to think - after Lyco, Sulphur ... but Sulphur was not
indicated in the totality ..... Finally after Sepia seemed to clear
the picture a little more and some symptoms became more prominent
others improved - YEs as you stated, in the direction of Herings LAw
of Cure, the picture developed into a stark an obvious Sulphur (mind
and physicals)!!!
It happened the day I asked you the question.
HAs it been a week already?! The SUlphur has moved things towards cure
and about 50% improvement in symtpoms already (physically and
mentally). (thank God!)

So if you see this progression - I was surprised at the number of
remedies he had to go through to get here. Of course since he is an MD
, he'd hardly recall how much of suppressive treatment he has
inadvertnatly taken over the last 10 years for various small symptoms,
since his onset of Reiters syndrome.

I continue to wonder whether the Lyco will be indicated again, but
clearly it seems to have completed its action. Sulphur seems to be the
last lap on his journey! What fun to see this miasmatic healing!

Dear Ellen,
JAn Sholten's charts are tremendously helpful to have an insight into
the homeoapthic working of various elements and salts.
Yes they (including Scholton) have been working on identifying the
constitutients of plants in order to probably make up a comparitive
materia MEdica of sorts, just as you mentioned below. MAybe that will
give us deeper insight into the whole concept of remedy relathioships!
IF Zincum is indicated, Rhus V may also be indicated at some point ...

SO its good to have these remedy relationships in mind for
prescribing. Finally though one still has to hely on the symptoms
picture predominanting as the main guide to indicate the remedy. When
we pay attention to detail (emotional or physical modalities), the
indicated remedy becomes clearer.
Eg: in chir choice between ZIncum or Rhus V at a particular point of
time, Rhust V would be indicated not just becasue it contains a high
quantity of Zinc, but becasue in its procing picture, it brough up
emotioanl or physical modlaities that indicate it at that point of
time, of couse in relationship to Zinc.

Is that a little convoluted?

It is so nice to see your picture on your site. I am almost talking to you.
We need a book called Miasms Expressed as Physiology. Dr. Vijaykar is clearly pushing the science into that direction. I did not realize predictive homeopathy II and III were out. That's very encouraging. I'll read them.

I have been taught to put a lot of effort into identifying the chief complaint. In reality, the patient may say one thing and I try very hard to cover that complaint, but rarely base the case on the chief complaint as the patient describes it. The chief complaint can be only a small aspect of the central disturbance. As Sankaran describes the central disturbance, you don't have to be an MD or to have an extensive medical background to find it. The analytical process for me is more like a combination of analogy and analysis. This physiological and biological background that you and Dr. Vijaykar are bringing to the table is a big help to the imagination.

I have also been getting much help from Mangialavori to develop this trajectory of central disturbance into our images of the remedies. The other day I did an analysis of tarantula where I looked at the physiology and behavior of the animal. I was amazed to see how much the "signature" is related to the proving symptoms. They even suggest symptoms that are not in the proving. These thoughts were based on Mangialavori's work. If the image of the central disturbance does not go all the way into our understanding of remedies, it is all a lot of theoretical talk. I wonder if I could possibly edit down the length of this paper and send it to you to possibly be put in your zine?

If Zincum is indicated and if Rhus V is indicated because it has high
zinc then would all the other salts of Zinc also be indicated?
After all they also have a high conc. of Zinc... I simply do not
understand this logic...Rhus V might have high quantity of Zinc but
then it has so many other alkaloids and other substances... yes some
of the characters might be the same but that is it ....I like eating
chicken so I must also like eating crows because both are birds...and
have feathers... have a beak...and two wings...

As Dr. Leela said, the rest of the case has to match. I don't remember the details, but other symptoms matched too. I, however, have something related to your problem imagining how Jan Sholten expects us to make use of his information on the content of different elements in remedies. What is high or low is relative to what is the general condition for plants, I suppose. He doesn't give us that sort of information and I was mystified by the charts. The above example came from a lecture by Vermeulen on "interviewing a substance."

JAn Scholton is a chemist by (earlier) profession. HEnce these
connections and informations are of interest to him. So whether they
finally filter down into something clinically helpful remains to be seen.
