hope -- like many others I'm sure -- is that neither the great experiment of
republicanism and democracy nor the country have drawn to a close but are
instead suffering the pains of youth and greed at great expense to many both
in and outside the country.

it should be APOLITICAL, I have been in private communications with all the
people who responded to Julian's first post.
I have not remarked at all on Minutus.
However, in his recent posting Allen has written:

Having made my point very clear from the beginning that the kind of
exchanges we have been having should not be on Minutus, I was surprised by
Allen's remarks - in any case if other colleagues are interested in these
exchanges, please do let me know PRIVATELY and I shall copy you with the
exchanges.
I hope this would remove any mis-understanding that may have occurred.
