Regarding the 'biting' episodes - although it would be important to get to
the reason for this, you might want to include the 'Gestures' rubrics, in
the mind section, of which there are many.

One could argue here that there is only layer and that is the layer of the
simillimum - anything else will/could either disrupt, suppress, cause
aggravation if he is sensitive to the remedy, stir up just bits and pieces
of the case, or do nothing at all. If cure is the optimum aim then so should
the simillimum be. Go for the totality of the case. Choice of potency and
dose will also be very important to keep any potential aggravation to a
minimum.

You might want to include Calcarea carbonica and Melilotus in your remedies
to consider.

be best for the boy in the long run. I don't know what the assumptions are
behind Dr. Shadrar's approach, but I assume that they are closer to my goals
than Hersu's.

Dear Barbara and Joy,
Those are really good arguements. I have been taught to think in layers when cases are complex, but this one is not complicated by other illnesses and its a teenager not an adult. I never thought of Med as detoxifying, but I guess any nosode does that when used intercurrently. I don't know that I would start with Medorrhium. Maybe that's just an old wives tale. Muphy at one stage said don't start with Medorrhium.

Don't forget to incorporate all the relevant physical sx as this can really
help confirm a remedy especially when there appears to be some high ranking
emotional and mental symptoms and a large number of possible remedies emerge
from this. Sometimes these high ranking sx have to be put into perspective.
For example you might take his 'fear of bees' and the 'sticking pins into
himself' as separate and strange rare and peculiar sx but there might be a
rationale to them that means they are not so special, e.g. bees sting and
this is very similar to sticking a pin into the skin so maybe he has made a
connection and is merely expressing that connection in his own way of
learning. So it is important to follow through on every issue.

Every case has to have some physical sx so it's worth taking note of them.

I have hesitated to ask to talk with him, the boy, on the telephone or to correspond by email. But at least the telephone should be possible. I did not succeeed in getting many physical symtoms, but I will try harder.

He was constipated and for years pooping like a dog on the floor around the toilet. Even the poop looked like dog poop, but I could only find Sheep Dung (with Ardavan's help). Have never see sheep dung. Does it look like dog poop? Hard, dry round? Anyway. So everyone just avoided that bathroom. Then when I asked about it, they gave him a drug for constipation and he stopped that dog behavior. I am afraid to embarass the boy by asking him about it. But that is my only real clear physical symptom -- mental. Even that, because my cousin is very withholding of any negative emotion, he has nothing to say about the behavior. Like not noticing that his children were being rather obviously abuse, he did not see it. I think he really did not see it. He cares a lot, but can't see negative behaviors. By adjusting and bowing, he moves through life with great success in the public sphere. .

Maybe I should just try to hold regular sessions with the boy on the phone not really probbing for anything. Just friendly talk. In the process, something may come out. I am going to have to establish more rapport anyway to keep track of the case.

Did you mention that he had been on Ritalin? if so you would need to assess
the side effects of this in such sx as type of stool. And do the same with
any other drugs he is taking.

There is a rubric 'stool, like a dog's' if that is any use.

Most of the time I use MIMS which is a monthly booklet on drugs (there are
other versions) but usually a google search on individual drugs will give
you everything you need.
