Hi Janet,

Welcome, and thanks for the article!
One of your numbers is coming thru to me as a "pi" symbol, e.g.

I don't know if that will come back to you as a "pi" or as your original

How should that read?

Also, wonder if you can shed light on this: I notice he says that
preparations from the dried root are "inferior", but then gives directions
for preparing tincture from the dried root. What have I misunderstood?

Thanks!
Shannon

obese - phytolacca berry

this is the equation every homeopath has in his/her mind. Homeopath never
thought beyond phytolacca in obese cases. then at the same time they say we
treat the patient and not the disease.

Each medicine of homeopathy has dual action one is positive and other is
negative. During proving it was observed that phytolacca reduced weight (a
positive symptom in proving). Now its homeopathic use is not in mother
tincture or crude form for obesity. Its homeopathic use is only in potency
form. And for utilising homeopathic use one has to collect all the
constitutional and other symptoms when ever you will do you will never ever
came to phytolacca. (Big Laugh)

Just spoken to my patient as he phoned and he appears to be a "changed man" since the Puls. 200 I gave him. His wife said he is like a 5 yr old child. He seems to have got the incentive to do something about his eating. He is cutting down on the coffee and has swapped from diet cola which I think is poison (aspartame )especially in the amounts he drinks and the fact that he is breathless. Unfortunately he is now drinking the real thing and al that sugar can't be good but I suppose if he has stopped snacking it will even itself out. He is very happy to try the Phytolacca once I have decided for certain what potency to get in and the posology!! If he is taking it in potency he will not need the crateagus Q unless he has got a heart problem and I didn't even go into that. His presenting complaint was lymphodema and his legs are red lumpy and the skin feels like leather!! However it is not hot or painful.

Hi Rochelle,

Re the sodas, maybe you could give him a talk about the importance of
drinking at least... well, for his size it would be way more than 8, but
pick your own number -- plenty of glasses of plain, pure water. Especially
for an obese person (already toxic) and especially for someone who will
(hopefully) be losing weight, they need that water to flush away the toxins!
If he's aiming for 8 or more glasses of water, that should cut down on the
room for sodas! If he finds the taste too boring, he could begin by adding
e.g. squeeze of lemon, tsp of juice, whatever...

Rochelle --

This is also highly poisonous -- one of those plants that should never be taken below a 3x potency.

I've seen an Indian homeopath treat obesity with Calc-ars. 200c, split dose, once a week (in a menopausal patient who would get palpitations at the slightest emotion, had skin hyperpigmentation and some fatty degeneration).

Peace,
Cinnabar

Sounds more like Ant-c than Phytolacca

Shannon, don't worry about it, he got the lecture!!! What he needed which is what the consultation and/.or (!) the puls. did was to get the incentive. He said that he felt like a "changed man". So when he comes back in a few weeks I will tackle other obvious diet things!!

The remedy in question is NOT made from the roots but from the juice

from the juice.

The absorbtion of adipose tissue has been noted for the *berry* NOT the *root*.

Years ago there was a weigh-loss formula being marketed that included
Phyolacca decandra 6x. I was asked by the HPCUS (of which I was a
member) to look into the claims that Phtolacca d. can lead to weight
loss.
I found nothing in the provings to suggest that this was so. The only
tie to weight loss was through the juice of the berry-- unpotentized.
Allen's Encyclopedia quotes 29 sources of proving information,
leading to the listing of 600 symptoms. None having to do with weight
loss. 007 said: " During proving it was observed that phytolacca
reduced weight (a positive symptom in proving)."
As 007 has accused others on this list of mis-quoting Hahnemann and
Kent, I would be interested in knowing the source for the above
quote. I never found any proving symptoms that did so. Please give
the source of this.

Dear Joy,

Now you have my interest up!!!! If you have time please write more!! The Puls. obviously has done something. Am hoping that at the next consultation he will speak without insisting that his wife is present!!
