Well, no, but it is in there, maybe I should then clarify:
Why not Calc F in "regular" series but in a plasma potency? It all depends what you need to do. In the situation of plain hyperextension or connective tissue laxity, I want to act selectively and almost "locally" on those tissues, hence the use of remedies the same way I would use MT or very low potencies of herbs, for a purely physical problem. In the case of real Ehler-Danlos, I might use a regular series as the defect is genetic and is affecting all the tissues, IF the other symptoms bear resemblance to Calc F....which unfortunately is not known or considered as a "big" remedy or a polychrest.
So let's take another example with a better known remedy, Calc Phos. Imagine you have a patient asking for help with the repair of a fracture: Calc P will be part and parcel of the treatment but you want an intense local action on the bone, no matter what the core remedy or the miasmatic situation of this patient is; this is where I go with a plasma potency using the lower end of the spectrum. OTOH, if the patient has a general simillimum that is Calc P, then I will of course use a regular series PLUS Calc P with others as a local treatment, a bit in the same technique as Schuessler salts.
I like imagery, so here it comes: a screwdriver is a screwdriver, from the tiniest ones used in watchmaking to the big ones used with drills in building; yet you would not use them interchangeably, would you?
You could say there is an inconsistency here, as I keep saying that there is no way we can know which potency/ies is/are needed in any case, hence the use of a full series; that is true, and my use of lower potencies in the plasma could be a residue of my years of indoctrination in the belief that "physical problems need lower potencies".
Yet my clinical experience has shown me that when it comes to local, focal, organic problems, often the lower potencies or the tinctures when talking about herbs do work more effectively as they act in a chemical, pharmacological way. I have had the demonstration with kidney and liver malfunctions that did not react at all to potencies, yet recuperated when using tinctures. And since then, this is an association I do quite regularly.
For example a patient repertorises Phosphorus, and has a fair amount of liver symptoms and liver function tests strongly perturbed. P being a liver remedy, I could be satisfied with that. But I am not and will also give him a mix of Silybum, Taraxacum and Cynara in tinctures: those are herbs and remedies known to regenerate the liver. Both treatments work in synergy allowing for a faster healing. And that is what I am compelled to do, according to simple ethics, the first aphorism, the Oats of Hippocrates and Maimonides and all the ethical contracts I signed with all the professional organisations I belong to.
Why not plasma potency for other situations? I did try! at best it did not work and some aggravations happened, luckily very short term and without any sequels.
And it makes sense when dealing with core remedies, "the" simillimum: each dose carries a quantum of information; you want that information heard, understood and acted upon before giving the next bit; you read once chapter after the other in a book, not all chapters at the same time.
Better?
Joe.
