I would also say that even though some of the clinical allopathic data regarding Agave americana is interesting it cannot be used homeopathically unless any of it creates links with homeopathic provings.

It is quite a call for a rx to cure Rabies/Hydrophobia as well as Gonorrhoea and Scurvy and in fact we cannot call it a rx when many of these instances were carried out by giving the crude plant.

However, very often there is a correlation between homeopathic provings and their allopathic clinical use but we cannot accept that as standard, we have to confirm with provings and having looked at the one proving for this rx there is little to glean that it could be used for Rabies, Gonorrhea or Scurvy, except for the following tenuous links = constriction of the throat, an increase in thirst (rabies state) and bleeding gums (scurvy).

So perhaps more provings are required because it remains a tantalising substance. Its 'sister' rx Tequila offers much more.

Does anyone know if Sankaran has included the Amaryllis family in his 3rd volume of plant rx?

That is something that I think should be studied more deeply. Boerickes MM is filled with information from the herbal world and yet is considered a very useful homeopathic book...... posodology in Boericke is often also more herbal than homeopathic

If you look at the proved herbs and compare the provings to the herbal indications, you soon realise that they are the same but going deeper and more in detail when it comes to homeopathic remedies, and then other aspects, like the mentals and emotional symptoms that are not often reported in the herbal literature, but quite a few times used as such "unbeknownst" to the practitioner.
Some of my medical herbalist colleagues are furious at me when I tell them they practice homeopathy without knowing it.....until I show them the rubrics.
Herbal remedies have therefore strong pharmacological actions that are reflected in the proving, without side effects sometimes seen with herbs too, and energetic actions that are present but vastly enhanced by potentisation.

I agree with that Joe,

I think that when you take the full picture into consideration, with what is known that is about the plant, you practice homeopathy giving M.T., as an example. On the other hand: there is nothing negative to say about practicing herbal medicine, especially not with those remedies that support the immune system and the "cleaning" functions.
I think that the remedy pictures of especially the herbal remedies that are non-toxic in normal doses M.T. are just simplified pictures of the same remedies in homoepathie......
for the poisonous remedies it is a bit different, but working with dilutions (non-potentised D1, D2) also show that they can be used for the same symptomatology, be it again less detailed and more superficial perhaps.....
