Homoeopathy is a system with a difference. Unfortunately it has become a system with differences. There are many reasons for that. One reason is that Homoeopathy is based on laws and when people break laws it can upset the ardent followers of HAHNEMANN. The other problem is people follow more laws than hahnemann ever dreamt of.
Nevertheless even if we want to make a point it is good to be polite. Please sit down and take your bloody seat mean basically the same thing - but what a difference.
The best results come when we follow all the rules. But people are at different levels of understanding Homoeopathy and we should guid them not frighten them away.
Best regards
Elham

Also, and I think is where other of the differences have come about, "rules" apply at different levels. "Like cures like" can be applied at numerous levels, treating "smaller and larger totalities", e.g. chronic full case; chronic organ-related; chronic based on causation; trauma full-case; trauma based on causation, etc., etc., etc. And the amazing (or not so amazing, given the nature of the beast?) is that they can all "work".
I assume that some "work" differently than others--more or less deeply; more or less lastingly; more or less gently, etc.
Y'know, if anyone here would *like* to carry on a conversation comparing these different methods, it could be done (among other places I'm sure) on either Homeolist (google it) and/or BeyondHomeopathy (at Yahoogroups). Both of those are basically classical lists also, but with a somewhat broader range, and more importantly, with a commitment to safeguarding respectful exchange.

Some here try to teach Hahnemannian homeopathy, encourage that in every way but many do not want to learn this, or listen to it, they prefer to want to re-invent the wheel, prefer to go against Hahnemannn's instructions. This is a list for Hahnemannian homeopathy but even if it were not it is hard to imagine not wanting to practice it according to his instructions. For those who refuse to practice his instructions, I do not understand why they are here although at least one 'confessed' to their presence so as not to let the purists get away it

This is what some of us have to deal with.
I would also challenge the so called bad behaviour that has been spoken of, the so called rudeness - challenging some posts might have been, certainly heated discussions in the attempt to uphold Hahnemann's teachings but many who have complained about people being rude are the ones who have resorted to that themselves so let's not be hypocritical. There is a lot at stake, namely people's good health and the future of Hahnemann's great work.
It isn't the ranting between homeopaths that will hurt homeopathy it is the bad practice of it that will and does. And if this means continuing to challenge this 'over the counter, anyone can do it, doesn't matter how you do it, who the hell was Hahnemann anyway, let's re-invent it 'cos my methods are better' type of homeopathy, then so be it.
As Carol said the next heated discussion is due around March

might even be earlier.

Joy,
I have to take some exception to the idea that rude behavior is not what will kill homeopathy; only bad practice will.
History has taught is very clearly that it was the bad behavior that just about killed homeopathy in the USA. The bad
behavior between homeopaths resulted in a divisiveness that prevented practitioners from coalescing into a strong
body to fight the b.s. of the allopathic AMA, an organization that based its strength on fundraising and controlling the
membership, not practice. Conversely, allopathic practice was pretty bad, but that had little to do with allopathy
developing into a near tyrannical institution.
It should behoove us to learn how to argue a point without resorting to such vituperative hositility and rudeness that
forest gets lost for the trees.

Tanya, I don't care to cover this much more as I have made my point, as have others, but... there has not been any 'abuse', I really take issue with that and it is an easy concept to put into people's minds if you keep insisting that there has been. Debates have been extremely heated that is all but for those of us who care so strongly about Hahnemann's teachings, the ongoing quality of homeopathic teaching, some dreadful anti Hahnemannian practices etc etc, we feel the need to press our points.
You are a politically active person and I am sure you would want to take a stand against all you feel to be an infringement of your rights or any motive that you feel goes against your beliefs - then so do many of us here feel that way about Hahnemannian homeopathy. We feel strongly but there has been no abuse, in fact it is quite insulting to describe it that way.

Joy,
Not to be argumentative, but there is a difference between heated and passionate discussion and rudeness. It is a boundary issue
and I do believe that you would understand this. And as you note, being a political person has taught me over the years that just because
one is passionate, this passion does not mean we can explode willynilly without perspective. I also think that if we are to survive as a
profession we a) need to learn from the past, b) learn from basic organizing experience, and c) always remember that our words have
impact on the recipient. If we want to be effective, passion is not enough. Some language in arguments here has been strong from passion,
but there are times when it crosses the line and becomes personal in a way that does not further our cause. And there are times when
we are not perceiving ourselves as others do: it has always proven valuable to me to listen to the feedback which helps to keep balance.
And I wish you and everyone else a happy new years

Catching up on emails, having had a very bad year.
I would just like to add that Hahnemann spent his entire life perfecting homeopathy, and he wrote everything down so that we could learn from him and use the improvements he made so that we wouldn't waste our time going through the stages he went to reach those improvements. Furthermore, he knew the science and it was this knowledge that he used to write the guidelines of homeopathy for the benefit of all homeopaths.
The only reason for homeopaths not to want to follow these guidelines is because they lack the ability to understand them and rather than perservere to understand, they find it better to ignore and 'do it their own way'.
One day, if not already, a lot of damage, possibly unrepairable damage, will be caused to someone by homeopaths doing it their way and disregarding these guidelines.
