Hi Erica,
OK I take back the Wine and Garlic prescription - how sad. It sort of
looks like you're being backed into a corner where the things that would
normally be helpful become harmful - but maybe that's how suppression
works - you find a symptomatic solution which doesn't fix the underlying
problem which festers away underneath and then causes a different set of
symptoms or what often happens is the symptomatic relief solution causes
it's own set of problems.
The garlic and onions could indicate a sulphur intolerance which tends
to go along with aldehyde sensitivity (read as an alcohol and yeast
problem) and is an indication that either molybdenum levels are low or
are being blocked by mercury and/or copper. Also indicates a sulfation
problem which is a phase 2 liver issue I think. Increasing sulfates may
be helpful eg Espsom Salt baths, glucosamine sulfate, because the body
needs sulfates but is having trouble with the conversion. Slow thyroid
is connected to Phase 2 liver slow down which is part of the reason low
thyroid people often develop so many sensitivities.
Candida is fed by mercury. On the Autism Mercury list they talk about
how tangled together the two are and how hard it is to control candida
until the mercury has been chelated, and the process of chelating the
mercury can cause an explosion in yeast growth. Biotin is the B vitamin
which is produced naturally by healthy gut bacteria and prevents candida
from becoming systemic allowing it instead to live in healthy balance in
the body. GSE (grapefruit seed extract) which a lot of people use to
kill yeast can have an impact on sensitive livers for some people - it
slows down Phase 1 which can be helpful to balance a slow Phase 2, but
it also means that a little bit of a substance/drug/herb/vitamin/poison
will go a long way and last a long time because it's not being processed
by the liver at the usual pace.
Zinc deficiency or zinc blockage by copper, cadmium, mercury, aluminium
or antimony is associated with salicylate intolerance. Interesting,
connecting your Crotalus postings, that all the snake poisons contain a
bit of zinc (Vermuelen).
The Feingold diet which helps with salicylates also controls foods which
require sulfation - but I would see these sorts of dietary restrictions
as part of backing into the corner and not addressing the underlying
cause.
Don't know if you already are but I'd be looking at the liver support
herbs too as organ remedies - Milk Thistle is like a food in the way so
many people benefit from it and the other one that I like is Globe
Artichoke - but I guess with your herb problems that probably needs a
bit of exploration.

further in relaying why I have issues. I am allergic to almost all herbs
as well as alcohol. I stopped drinking alcohol altogether in 1996. I
don't know if it's a true allergy (I had so many!) but I would get very
drunk from very little and my whole face and neck would turn very red
(yes I know - a definite rubric).

Red wine in particular has this
effect. I also have a problem with salicylites.

pure oils) is that I am very sensitive to toxicity and mercury in
particular. I was a vegetarian for years (no meat) and ate tuna fish
daily for a very long time. This led to some serious mercury toxicity. I
also ate swordfish and salmon frequently. I stopped eating it when my
son was diagnosed with autism (5.5 years ago). A year or two ago, I
tried some wild salmon which supposed to be low in mercury and I
couldn't form a thought for about two days.
had liver issues. I have not had the reflux since my first dose of Carc

allergic to soy and react even to "Natural Vitamin E" or "Lethicin" if
it is soy derived (small hives).

interesting none the less.
