Euphoria according to?????
(Anything but!)
That's not one I've seen among the couple hundred cushings sufferers on
my Cushings support group list.
The responses to high cortisol are exaggerated but not euphoric -
there's a difference.
There will be tears triggered by far less of a trigger than normal - and
excitement (but not euphoria) triggered also by far less of a trigger
than normal - a doorbell or phone ringing. Either the depression extreme
or the high anxiety excitement extreme can be triggered by relatively
small things - cortisol causes an extreme version of the normal response
to stimuli.
The depression extreme is triggered by the extreme tiredness and
lack of energy - due to the extreme effort needed just to exist at all.
Cortisol uses up a great deal of oxygen, breaks down tissues, leaves
the individual exhausted in a very intense way, every muscle, every
fiber is achingly tired. Just getting up from sitting takes immense
energy and effort for example. Walking across a room can make the person
ready to fall over and collapse from lack of breath and exhaustion.
The excitement extreme feels the way one feels after getting huge
fright (and indeed can trigger heart attacks) but is triggered by
relatively small things - and can escalate very easily if any kind of
stressful situation can not be escaped and avoided immediately and the
use of calming techniques used. This stress situation then can trigger
even more over-reaction - including yelling and crying in frustration
for example.
Neither extreme is any fun!
It's not euphoric!

CORTISONE AND CORTICOIDS
Source
Cortisone , or Kendall's compound "E", is : 17 Hydroxy-11-dehydrocortocosterone, formula C21H28O5; molecular weight = 360.46; melting point = 218-220°.
Cortisone is used in an acetate form, and is prepared today by synthesis.
It is a cortico-suprarenal hormone, belonging to the group of 11 steroids or 11-oxycorticosteroid hormones.
Its fundamental properties are : promotion of the formation of glycogen; diminution of the use of glucides by the tissues, negation of the nitrogen balance, elevation of urinary elimination of uric acid; of creatine (without any change in the level of creatinine in the urine), and of potassium; sodium retention, varying action on the urinary elimination of phosphorous and calcium; degeneration of the lymphoid organs, with lymphocytopenia; increase of globulins in the plasma, and inhibition of conjunctival inflammatory reactions.
In addition, it inhibits the production of A.C. T.H. , and produces atrophy of the suprarenal cortex.
It gives the impression of wellbeing and euphoria, but there is the possibility of maniacal or depressive psychological complaints.
The Corticoids are a group of synthetic bodies whose action is analagous to that of Cortisone, but with greater power at equal weight, and, theoretically, with greater tolerance.
In fact, all corticoids can bring about irregularities, namely : perforation of gastric and duodenal ulcer, gastric and duodenal haemorrhaging, psychological complaints, virilism, acne, osteoporosis, diminution of resistance to infections and to tuberculosis, amenorrhoea, and Cushing's syndrome.
Prednisone and prednisolone (delta-cortisone and delta-hydrocortisone) cause less retention of water and salt, and less potassium reduction in the blood than cortisone, but on the other hand, can be the cause of myopathy.
Amongst the corticoids, the following can be distinguished :
Hydrocortisone , 17 - hydroxycorticosterone.
Delta-cortisone , derived from cortisone by dehydrogenation in position 1 and 2 (cortancyl).
Delta-hydrocortisone (hydrocortancyl).
Dexamethasone , fluorine 9-a-trihydroxy-11 b-17a21 methyl 16 a dioxo 3-20, deltacortisone 1.4 (Decadron).
Delta-methyl-deltacortisone , 16-beta-methyl-delta-1-cortisone (Betalon, Betnesol).
Methyl-beta-delta-hydrocortisone (Medrol).
Triamcinolone , fluorine 9 and hydroxy-16 and delta-1-dehydrocortisone.
Below is given the Hahnemannian proving for cortisone, and a short clinical symptomatology for the corticoids.

Cortisonum
Cortiso.
Signs
Cortisone [from L cortex, corticis, bark].
'Compound E,' a naturally-occurring corticosteroid isolated from the adrenal cortex, or prepared from ox bile, etc, used as an anti-inflammatory agent and in the treatment of Addison's disease.
Endogenously, it is probably a metabolite of hydrocortisone but exhibits no biological activity until converted to hydrocortisone [cortisol]; it acts upon carbohydrate metabolism and influences the nutrition and growth of connective [collagenous] tissues. [Stedman's]
To the class of steroids belong sterols [e.g. , cholesterol], bile acids, adrenal hormones [e.g. , cortisone], sex hormones [such as testosterone and progesterone], vitamin D.
Corticosteroids are currently being used on a large scale in medicine, both internally and externally, in the treatment of allergic reactions, various skin diseases, rheumatoid arthritis and other inflammatory diseases by limiting their spread. The number of side-effects is proportionately large. One of the negative characteristics of these preparations is that they can reactivate latent infections and mask acute disorders, where surgical intervention may be required. They also reduce resistance to infections and can bring about disorders of the water and hormonal systems and the blood pressure, as well as osteoporosis, diabetes, peptic ulcers, hirsutism, acne, amenorrhoea and psychic disorders.
The strong suppressive effect often causes a blockage, especially in the excretory functions from skin and mucous membranes. The result is that the vital force seeks release on a deeper level of sickness.
In patients with a history of corticosteroid use [internal or external!], therefore, Cortisonum in a homoeopathic potency is necessary to regenerate the reactive capacity of the organism and subsequently enable the appropriate constitutional remedy to do its work.
Proved in 1953 by W.L. Templeton on 8 persons. [See: James Stephenson, A Materia Medica and Repertory, and O.A. Julian, Dictionary of Homoeopathic Materia Medica], and by B.K. Sarkar [see: B.K. Sarkar, Up-to-date with nosodes, Calcutta, 1966. ]
