Now I have seen this sort of prescribing in London. For Pill A read high nosode , Pill B - organ Rx Pill C a different high nosode. The practitioner was working in a health club belonging to a friend of mine and this was the sort of prescription which was given for his then 7 yr old daughter who had asthma. There was also Take Pill A on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, Pill B on Tuesday Thursday and Saturday + Pill C once a week etc - Well you get the picture. I couldn't believe it and this did not resemble Eizayaga's model either. The homeopath was from "The Practical School of Homeopathy"!! Needless to say it didn't work but unfortunately it was enough to put the family off homeopathy and say that it doesn't work because of this.

I fully understand the reasoning of low dose combos as organ tonics made up specifically for the patient as Dr R explained in an earlier post.

which of course is what happens when when any of the other 'non-
hahnemannian' methodologies are used, and don't work
( for list of these see recent posts from hahnemannian)

It is not only combos that put people off homeopathy!

Thanks, that sounds quite wild!
Do you know, are the remedies chosen on basis of local or partial
pictures, or something else?

This not what I have suggested..combos not as first attempts at
prescription ( as I would not have Rajan's approach as the first
approach to finding the medicine). Also not alternating a lot of
medicines in different ways - morning something , evening something
etc. Even though they may be single medicines ( and so entirely
Hahnemann supported and Organon approved) I would not bombard the
system with so many alternate changes... The combos that I have tried
and what I had in mind had all of the medicines mixed together and
each time you repeat you are basically giving the same combo- combined
together based on clinical experience, proven locality of action,
available specificity of action etc, etc. and if proved would be
considered a single complex...

I have had more resistant cases when people came to me from
homeopaths who had tried these various medicines at various times
alternating and changing medicines at the whim or when they had
repeated a lot of these a lot of times...

I have never treated a chronic case with combos either... ( in fact
never have prescribed a combo in my homeopathic clinic, only in my
allopathic clinic as an alternate to allopathic drugs)

That was my observation too, that other modalities also have a variety
of sub-methodologies. I haven't been aware of the same sort of
infighting among those groups, but maybe that's just because I'm not
involved in them.

Hello,
Why not? (Assuming the prescriber understands Sanakarans current teachings)

Agreed- but remedy does not work many times even when I give them
after deliberation and as a single dose.... at least a third of the
prescriptions fall flat on face....
but still my patients do not blame either homeopathy or even me (
though I probably deserve to be)- it all comes down to having a good
rapport with the patient, treating them as partners in care, accepting
that they porbably know better about their body and situation than we do

and this would hold good for single, combination or no medicine
(placebo) practice...

I think we are all (I mean all of the active members) aware that the
Organon specifically dictates against giving more than one remedy at a
single time. (Even if we take the ST translation of, "more than one
remedy for a single disease", still combos as commonly used would fail
the test.)

The organon also dictates against various other things: external
applications, combining modalities, eating anything much beyond meat
and potatoes... The Organon also specifically gives the nod to
vaccinations. (Granted that vaccines in those days were different from
today's.)

So this is what it comes back to--are we taking what's given in the
Organon as the complete defining boundary for permissible discussions
on this list? I, for one, hope not! Traditionally this list has had a
clear focus on classical methodology. I don't think anyone is trying
to change that. But what we are "battling" over, is whether to allow
"side-trips". The occasional posts on combos have been nothing other
than that, just side-issues. They (and other types of not-homeopathy
and non-classical methodology) are a simple fact of life within some of
our practices, and in today's life. Some of us value being able to
discuss these things *within* the context of a classical emphasis. IMO
those who do *not* wish to discuss these things, should just lean on
the ol' delete key now and then.
Best wishes,
Shannon
