The patient responded to Lachesis 30. In the absence of other
symptoms - hydronephrosis, calculi are pathological conditions and
need not directly lead to remedies, the only modality I got was <
after sleep with tongue trembling etc. and so I gave Lachesis.
At that time I was testing out MLTyler ascending potencies going
like 30,200, 1M. So I had given hime 3 packets. The next day
afternoon he took one dose. The 2 nd day morning he had a return of
the same trembling of tongue, with tongue thrusting out and the son
called me and that is when I knew of how this had happened 4, 5 days
back with the dye.
All medicines stopped. In a week, BP showed normal readings, urea
became normal. The man flatly refused to undergo any more tests and
went back to his village. The son who was a taxi driver continued
sending me some patients and everytime said that his father was
doing well which does not mean much as he never had had any symptom
before. But the fact that the urea and BP was normal itself was
significant.

As Joy suggested my next medicine would have been Lycopodium as a
follow-up after Lachesis. But that never happened.

Of course I did not analyze this miasmatically to any extent.But in
my approach I would have assumed that all cases are miasmatic or
chronic as long as they have symptoms - which in my case not just
the present ones.

But I thought you hadn't known about the tongue business until after
prescribing?
Was that mentioned after all--or *what* was > after sleep?

Yup- I did not know about the trembling until after the remedy was
given.
The trembling was > on awaking. It had been there for 2 days.Then
gone. I did not know it was due to the dye.

He had giddiness on waking. This plus the fact he had increased BP
plus the left was first affected and now going to right made me give
Lachesis. ( This was a case from 1994 - My memory might be patchy on
this - sorry)

Miasmatic application makes sense based on the developing pathology of
a case. Shannon I agree with you when you said:

THis is exactly what we generally do. Not every case needs to be
analysed miasmatically unless we're dealing with a sequence of chornic
diseases that developed one over the other. Always the indicated
similimum is important.

In this case, I don't see very much of miasmatic detrioration. HE is
strongly psoric in expression and has reached a ripe old age in that
expression. Ageing will certainly have its effect on this and he
outsome seems to be the stnoes resulting in hydronephrosis, along with
a laxity of tissues resulting in hernias. that's about all.
I'd give the indicated chronic similimum that was predominantly psoric
in its proving expression with sycotic aspects as well. I'd expect
that the gentleman will need just one remedy for cure.

To be sure I've given the right remedy, I'd expect besides improvement
along Heirng's law of Cure, that he would NOT develop a furthur/new
complaints that are of a predominantly sycotic or syphilitic
expression eg: stangulated hernia, varicose ulcers; nephrosclerosis or
contracted kidneys; or hypertension following treatment... etc. then
I'd know I"m moving in the wrong direction with my remedy, even though
presenting symptoms have improved. I'd rather expect him to develop
only minor psoric symtpoms in the future.

approach? Even if we could identify many miasms then this would mean
they had all had their own characteristic features and all will have
their different 'stage' development - these might mimic other miasms -

I am confused about the Lachesis as you have said both on
waking and lachesis sleeps into aggravation, but if it cured...
lachesis then would be considered to be Sycotic/Syphilitic or ? in your
opinion and how does this present with the pathology mentioned.

So a possible way to understand this--altho we don't see any obvious
pointers to lachesis in your initial case, we can assume that (as Joy
said) effects that come out in response to the drug are "of the
patient", reflect his own susceptibility, and so prescribing on
those--even tho apparently not present before receiving the dye-- also
reached his deeper state. (Otherwise it could not have reduced the BP
and urea.)

Now to see whether *I* could have come to this remedy under the
circumstances...
So if you have repertorized, would the rubrics have been:
Generals, sleep, agg after (124 remedies in Complete)
Mouth, trembling, tongue (59)
Vertigo, waking, on (42)
?

Did you use any other pointers?

Looking at the rubric

Obvious pointers are the hernia (all snakes have some kind of
displacement of organs); going from side to side, i.e. L-R or R-L;
blockages (again, most snakes are >>> free flowing discharges) and
lachesis specifically has 'small tumour in urethra; HBP, probably

The patient was < waking. In fact he had the symptoms only on waking.
Regarding miasms I was wondering apart from the big three anything
else might be indicated.

I'm confused! What was he seeking treatment for--if he hadn't
mentioned the trembling tongue and speech trouble (had he mentioned
giddiness on waking?) and he had no symptoms from the other things?

I surely can't argue with the results, and some support is there in
retrospect, but I still am confused about what led you to prescribe
lachesis--*what* was < on waking, and was that the only symptom you
had???
