Joy, do you happen to know what the mechanism of that "central scotoma"
is--whether it has to do with e.g. loss of pigment, or ??

A person who is determined *not* to see or believe something, will
discount even effects that are plain to others. So the question would
be whether he wants to know the truth, or whether he is so invested in
his position that he will actively resist seeing what's in front of
him, or possibly even deny what he *can* see--we don't have the phrase
"in denial" for nothing.

Mind you the situation with a throbbing Hx would be different!!

As it was mentioned that the thyroidinum was from a previous homeopath
I assumed it was potentised thyroidinum that was given in mega doses.

Scotomas are blind areas that can occur centrally or in the peripheral
field - caused by a problem in the optic nerve I think. Ones that begin
with flashes of lights are often experienced by people who have

Hi guys,
Yes, the previous homopath gave her Thyroidin on a daili basis, different
potencies (5c, 7c, 30c that she can remember, and maybe others), I worry
that the dose might have been the worst. Three times a day 5-10 globules. No
interruption. This triggered all the hypotyroid physical symptoms (I dared
assuming, since they were not present before) and the eye problem, etc.
Vision, dazzling might be a halpful rubric (thanks, Soroush).
I didn't take "flashes" specifically into account since it's more of a
permanent thing now but she's very vague when sedcribing the beginning of
symptoms and everything in general.
She's always been afraid of the allopath. This includes ophtalmologists and
I have taken the symptom into consideration for her full picture. Digitalis
fit her current state and seemed to reverse many terrible physicals and
mentals, maybe we'll get to and underlying layer. I wonder if I can treat
the eye as a separate acute since it seems to be the symptom that doesn't
really receed (although some improvement). She's being very patient
considering her sx. I hope no permanent damage. I'll try my best to convince
her to get a specific diagnosis.

Hi Shannon,
She still can see with affected eye but described symptom is permanet,
sometimes improving a bit, sometimes worse. The vagueness of the description
hasn't allowed me know how darkness and "as if blinded by light"
alternate... She says she wouldn't call it "flashes"...
I *think* they're happening at the same time, sometimes one worse than the
other. Appearance of the eyes: there's a reddish brown spot on the white of
the left eye, and I did notice upon pupil testing that right eye pupil
didn't dilate as much as left, it was always more contracted. This
disappeared last time I saw her, a month after first prescription.
Yes, she's refusing to see ophtalmologist out of fear, but she's afraid of
basically everything. She's been much more relaxed about eveything in the
last month, though, which gives one hope.

Can you briefly say what led you to Digitalis, just for "educational
purposes"?

Off course! Other than the eye symptom,
1. *Her state was definitely phlegmatic*
2.*Constant desire to take a deep breath but only half-fitting* *chest*
3. Bloating and paleness of face
4. Tearfulness, low spirits & melancholy were prominent
5.Fear of death
6. Anxiety as from a troubled conscience
7. *Internal coldness of body*
8. Confusion and vertigo
9. Sudden crashing noise in head on falling asleep awaking with fright
10. Weakness and lassitude of lower extrmities.
Then we pupil tested her and this was the largest, steadiest dilation. With
as many symptoms as she had (this little list is only a tenth) and her
vagueness, I'm surprised we narrowed it down to about five remedies.
