Re: plantar fasciitis

Post by Helen Tucker »

My husband is having an excruciating acute with symptoms consistent plantar fasciitis. Unfortunately, our homeopath announced yesterday that he was closing his practice. Could I trouble this group for recommendations, while we search for another homeopath?
Symptoms are:
Extremities, pain, foot, heel. Sharp, stabbing pain to the bone.

Worse when walking, worse when walking after rest, worse on waking in the morning because it is the first pressure after night’s rest.

Better when off feet

No change with heat or cold

Constant, no special time of day. Better at night, only because he is off his feet.
Murphy’s MM for Conium M. says: “Heels, as if bone would push through them. Shooting in heels.” He says that describes it exactly.
He just started Conium LM now for his constitutional remedy. But the pains started 2 months ago, before the Conium. It started in both feet, but was shifting towards the left (right was lessening, left was worsening). Then he started the Conium, and right disappeared, left got a lot worse. Now it is unbearable.
On the Conium, his memory is improving, which is the first remedy in 2 years that we could find that would affect his memory. But this preexisting heel thing is getting worse and worse.
So the question is, does he stay on the Conium, because the effects are consistent with Hering’s Law? Is the heel symptom a similar aggravation? Should he take a smaller dose?
My husband tends to be undersensitive, so usually remedies under 1 M in potency have absolutely no effect on him.
Thanks for all your help.
Helen

Until you come up with a remedy that helps his plantar fasciitis, you might try hot compresses of comfrey leaves, which I've found helpful in some cases. Comfrey is in season now, so you should be able to gather it. Some health-food stores also sell dried comfrey leaves. Chop the leaves, pack densely in a bit of boiled water, and secure to the sole with some cheesecloth, or other loosely woven fabric. Refresh as the poultice cools down.
Peace,
Dale

ouch! my sympathies.
i had such a case a number of years ago and it was
quite painful.
i never found a remedy that worked well altho i think
i tried ruta and rhus t.
what did help was a stretch exercise that i found online.
this is how to do it:
stand about 2-3 feet from the wall--depending on his height
place hands on wall
keep feet pointed straight forward
make sure heels stay on floor--this is the most important point
lean his body into to wall, keeping the body straight
this stretch will pull on the tendons to keep them extended.
he should do this several times a day. let him do it gently so he
doesn't cause more damage. he can do this stretch a few times, holding
it for a few moments, release and do it again.
i found this gave much relief.
they also sell foot braces which will keep the foot flexed during sleep.
this will prevent the tendon from going into spasm.
good luck

It does not sound too much like Hering's law to me- the aggravations are either milder for a while and if they are excruciating as described short lived... that is what I have seen

Is he proving the medicine? Is he taking Conium continuously? My suggestion would be - if the remedy is being repeated - to lay off of it for sometime and see...

I use oil of myrrh before I go to bed and rub it on the painful area of my foot. I awake with no pain in the morning or very very little.

Also..its good to twist the heal around before one gets out of bed..and esp.
to get good shoes and don't go barefoot.

Needs a full case taking but there is one orthotic that is really
helpful, esp if worn also at night:

It is something you wrap round the arch area of the foot, and while
it may not look like anything it works.
I and two others whose cases I took used this. Calls FABS (Foot Arch
Band Support) by Dr Roth's
Makes all the rest of them obsolete!

Tried to find a link:
http://shop.footsolutions.com/foot/default.asp?s_id=0
and put FABS in the search box on the left.

Namaste,

I found the remedy for each case based mainly on mind sx. For me I
needed sil, for another it was aurum, and I forget the third.
But it always needed mind, generals etc,

All three no more sx after about 6 months.M own was in 1998.

Sounds like yours went away anyway?

that's about how long it took me to heal, too.
i did not buy the foot supports, but used the stretching.
the price was right and it worked well.

I wondered about that, exactly how long Hering’s law lasts and how intense the peripheral symptoms are. I’ve only had experience with that when my son’s eczema got worse while his gut healed. That lasted for months, and sometimes the skin was very bad as well. But eventually, it all healed up.

We’ll lay off the remedy.

In the meantime I will try all of your suggestions. Buying the FABS now. Thank you so much everyone.

Helen
