Dear Rosemary

In my view - based on instructions of Hn and Kent etc there needs to be
evaluation before every dose.

So where is the logic of repeating a remedy after 12 hours with out
evaluation.

If you turn the starter key of your car and the engine fires, do you then
turn the key again?

Two doses 12 hours apart. I can't possibly be the only person whose
instructors at school used this protocol routinely, with good effect. :-()

I am sure you are not Rosemary, but this is NOT a split dose. Each pellet
is A DOSE. Giving one pellet now and another one 12 hours from now is NOT a
split dose, but TWO doses.

A split dose consists of ONE pellet, in Medicinal Solution, from which ALL
doses needed are given!

HI Shannon,

A split dose denotes SPLITTING ONE DOSE over several administrations. ONE
DOSE = ONE PELLET.

This is what Hahnemann left us in the 5th and 6th Editions. That many
prescribers misunderstand it, or still believe in Kent's teachings that one
pellet or 1,000 pellets make no difference and all are a "dose" is
erroneous.

Hi Magda,

I understand what you are saying. I am only making the point that the
term "split dose" is in common usage as something different from what
is stated in 6th ed. I think it's important to be aware of terms for
which there is confusion in the common usage.

Best wishes,
Shannon

I do not think some of you know the system but around here they make up a
one dose vial, a two gram
vial that they wet with one dose of remedy (i guess 1 drop) and then
acording to what the homeopath says
the patient has to take that one dose all at once, or half morning half
evening, or one half and the other half
the next week. i have no idea were this systeem came from.

but not all homeopaths follow this dosing system. so many ways people, not
all good ones no

I think we have a problem with logic here.

Each bit of the solution given to the patient is again one dose. Repeat it
after 5 minutes and you have given two doses!
Give it five times and it is five doses.

PLEASE GIVE REFERENCES FOR THIS. There is no mention of Split dose in the
Organon!

There are times when it is the dose that is under consideration as
opposed to the potency e.g LMs)

My perspective is this, regarding this specific discussion - it is not
the DOSE that needs the emphasis, it is the response
What appears to be suggested is that we instigate a split RESPONSE
I don't prefer that approach, I prefer to try to create a single
response that will continue unaltered

I can see the need to REPEAT a remedy soon after the first dose if it
is known that the Px responds sluggishly, or for short duration, but
that is not splitting the dose

I appears to me that what is being discussed is the protocol of
REPEATING a remedy ( not 'splitting' it)) soon after the first dose on
the assumption the Px will not respond sufficiently to the first dose.
I can see times when this might be appropriate but would not use it as
a general approach.
-perhaps this discussion is instead about the definition of 'dose' in
which case ignore the above
:-)

HI Soroush,

I see no need to expand in my answer after David's great post! A split dose
should only apply to doses given from a medicinal solution which is usually
made with one pellet. Consecutive dry doses given over a short period of
time are not split doses.
