As a whole I welcome a single register with more clout.

However, it cannot be all things to all men. It has to set standards. Sadly
in UK some areas of life are not at all controlled properly. For example
any one whit or without any qualifications or licence can put up a sign and
call themselves a homoeopath and practise however they wish.
[Even expert witnesses to Courts are regulated - a charlatan who had acted
as an expert witness was recently jailed in UK for pretending to be a
psychologist!]

We already have some problems with the need for Homoeopathy to be defined
properly - we need to have the principles stated clearly and finally
reconfirm the ethos of the new organisation and some how some one needs to
clarify the DIVERSITY that they talk about.

Will it be OK for members of the new register to deviate from the Principles
of homoeopathy (eg poly pharmacy etc)?

Good questions but that was not the issue I was raising-
What I was specifically concerned with was with references to
homeopaths that had ALREADY gone through the registration process with
a recognised organisation, and for which they had already paid i.e.
undergone a thorough vetting and paid for it already.

This is the sort of thing that bothers me. Who is going to check up on them once they are onb the Register?

And the idea of "checking up" is rather repellent. I thought the solution
JW mentioned is in use there, made sense--if they are using a method not
strictly homeopathic (which would arguably include polypharmacy), they need
to tell the patient that this part of their practice is something different.
That would "let" people continue to use tools they are finding useful, but
help to keep the definitions clear(er).

solid education of homeopathy? and that all the semi light courses with no
complete education got
no longer permission to practise? i too think that much to many people
practise homeopathy and get payd for

As JW knows very well, many of the NZ homeopaths do practice other
modalities than pure homeopathy and do deviate from pure, unadulterated
classical thinking.

The point that was made, and I think that it is well covered in NZ, is to
make sure, by checking the educational background and/or requesting a test
and interview, that the foundations, the basics of homeopathy are sane and
well understood, well assimilated.

And again, as JW wrote, hammer in the message that the patient should know
what is offered/prescribed; it is not only good practice, it is simple
ethics and honesty.
