Since I know of no one making potencies higher than CM these days, it
almost becomes a moot point.
Historically, the steps above CM were labelled as 2, 3, 4.... When
one got to 500,000 it was labelled DM.
a one million was MM
a 100,000,000 was CMM a 500,000,000 was DMM, and a one billion MMM.
I have in my collection a 4MM which is a 400,000,000.

History lesson:
NO potencies over CM were EVER succussed. Only the E&K Potencies on
the Kent machine were succussed between the starting point of 1M and
the final point.
The highest regular succussion done (using a korsakov method) was
hand-made potencies up to a 1M. Some were done by Tafel. Some were
done by Ehrhart.
A number of 200s were hand succussed all the way.
All higher potencies were made by either continuous fluxion machines
(Allen, Fincke, Swan) or intermittent fluxion machines (Skinner,
Deshere, Burdick, Santee).
All that is needed is time... and lots of it. To make a 4MM... it
takes about a minute to make a single step on the Fincke continuous
fluxion method. So you get 1440 raises a day. You'd need 761 YEARS to
make a 4MM.
Obviously, whoever made it was using a different method-- as Swan did
my calculating total volume needed, and manipulating fractions of
that.

To say nothing of the low sperm count this exercise must have caused

Perhaps change the subject heading? I can't be the only one who has lost
track of this.

How about a discourse on low sperm count in general? I heard this wonderful
story about a couple who went for IVF and the "specialist" announced the
reason his sperm could not fertilise her egg was because the sperm was
swimming in circles... The specialist said that in order to be able to do
something about it, they would have to cut off the sperm's tail (OUCH!)...
Can we administer arnica pre-conception anyone??
Wonders will never cease...

Sperm are ambitious, or at least they should be. When they have lost that
ambition, for whatever reason, there is always 'ailments from lost ambition'
and 'delusion body is headless' - nux vomica springs to mind.
Must be the silly season

Oh hee hee Joy - Ailments from lost ambition indeed... mmm, how about lyc?
Or phos-ac - totally dejected and worn out... can't be bothered to find
where it's at... Fancy something like that as remedy of the month?
Alternatively, how about people went off on holiday and enjoyed some good,
old-fashioned procreation activities. You are right, it must be the silly
season!

Thanks Julian,
So that makes the 4MM desination seem pretty fanciful, doesn't it?
I gather you don't know who made it? Any interesting story behind where it
came from?
