Am actually looking at Pall or Plat for this woman in the future. I have always found these 2 Rx difficult to distinguish so if you have the time........,,,,,,,,,,
I haven' t prescribed as the Rx I gave her seems to be still working.
All the best

That's an intriguing observation! Can you say any more? I mean, what
would be corresponding emotional traits--inability to finish tasks, or
?

Could it be useful to note that Palladium is silver series, and Platina
is gold? That distinction å la Scholten also seems consistent with the
difference between the remedies, at least as I was taught them--Platina
being more about "the pinacle" and "gold standard", with Palladium not
quite as overall intense (can't remember how this was said...) and
Palladium--but *not* Platina--big for "desires flattery" -- or maybe
that's an easier distinction on paper than in "real life"! :-)

Are you referring to the physical, mental or emotional distinguishing
features - just hoping you are not going to say "all 3" :-))

Dear Shannon, you could take the most obvious example of Pulsatilla
whose menses are always changeable and changeability is the essential
keynote of Pulsatilla and seen throughout nearly all aspects of the rx.

There must be hundreds of examples to make and some will inevitably
bring in some kind of signature but it's all there in the MM's

Apis need to be so busy - menses suppressed drives them to busy mania
Lyc suppressed - menses suppressed for months
Merc viv hurried and corrosive - menses profuse and corrosive
Kreosote want everything but throw it away - menses intermits (back and
forth emotions)
Nat mur averse to sex, infertile - menses suppressed (no need for them)
Nux vom angry and impatient - menses irregular and painful
Sepia indifferent - menses late and scanty
Carcinosin over-extended - bleeding between menses
Chamomilla ugly and cross - dysmenorrhea
Sulphur irresolute - menses too late, short, scanty, difficult
Platina contempt for others - menses have bearing down sensation
Argentum nitricum apprehensive, time passes slowly - menses irregular,
too soon, too late

You could write a book about it.....please..... someone :-))

Best wishes, Joy

I reckon it is the M and E's in a nutshell as the physicals are all in the book. I thought Plat for this woman and my rep showed a lot of Pall. I have always had a problem since college with these 2 Rx!!

Thanks
Rochelle

In which case that was why the Pall came out in a person who always thinks she is right and wouldn't admit she was wrong as it would been weakness. One of her Sx was that she expected and wants to be praised for the things she had done at work.

Both require a big boost in the ego but Platina develops contempt and
Palladium develops the need for the 'good opinion of others' (and will
go to great lengths to achieve this which exhausts them) because the
causation in Palladium is ailments from bad news or more specifically
wounded pride. In other words Palladium has already been put down
because they believe they are second best and always feeling as if
something bad is going to happen. Platina is much heavier, more
advanced in this pathology, further down the line so to speak. Even
though the 'wounded pride' is still in evidence (they are white gold
and not true gold) they take on an arrogant and haughty stance to
protect themselves and look down on others - delusion tall.

Palladium also has the delusion they have grown tall but they don't use
that to look down on others they just use it to feel good and it will
come after they have received a lot of praise from people (they
literally get high on it!).

With Platina the pathology is so much more advanced they might even
take on multiple personalities because they are never happy with their
image, feel they don't belong, they can even get to extremes of wanting
to kill (this is part of the 'not belonging' scenario). Platina has a
similar fearfulness that something bad will happen but it is so much
more intense than Palladium.

Platina will develop the excessive sexual desires by way of making
themselves feel good and this is isn't really seen in Palladium.

Platina has the alternation of physical and mental sx and some other
alternations of emotions (delusions cut into 2) and this is absent in
Palladium.

The physical pathology is considerably different and will always help
differentiate but if you think of the line downwards in the group,
starting with Niccolum, then Palladium, then Platina you can see how
more and more intense these features get. It is a story of damaged ego
- Niccolum suppresses their ego consciously, they become 'false' and
plastic instead of metal; Palladium is soft enough to be really hurt
and needs to over compensate with praise for the lack of it; Platina is
is almost beyond being hurt and is in preparation to hurt others
instead.

Hopefully not too much of a nutshell. Best wishes, Joy

Thanks Joy. I read and thought I still can't tell which would be best for my patient until got to the last paragraph. Now reading that I do understand the difference. I need to ask the question "Where do you see yourself in relationship with others, above, below or at the same level?" However "above" could still be either of them. I have had a Plat patient and one of the things is that they don't want children as they are scared of childbirth .Is this the same in Pall? M patient has 3 children so I think she is more likely to be Pall. Also I can't see her hurting others . She certainly has the wounded pride.

All the best
