Hi Rochelle,

Need to know the characteristics. Don't just look at the birth process.
You mention anxiety. I remember one case I had where a lady had
unfortunately miscarried and the uterus wasn't clear, contractions had
stopped. The gynae said "if nothing happens by tomorrow, we will have to do
a D&C". Rather than looking at remedies to "clear out the womb" etc, her
main characteristic was the anxiety of having to go for the D&C. This
together with some other key points led me to Ars alb. which worked spot on.
She had further contractions and expelled everything.

Someone posted on using secale. I think Kent cautions on not giviing Secale
while the womb has anything - be it baby or afterbirth. But I suppose Sx
should guide.

Check the emotions and remember other Rx's such as Chamomilla if there is
anger etc.

Regards,
Paul

Thanks again for even more suggestions from people. I have been round to see
her and the only thing she reckons may have stopped the contractions was
anxiety. She didn't like the attitude of the doctor in charge. She says that
in her mind she has now substituted another face and she hopes that he is
not there when she goes in.

She is down to be induced on Friday. Also she told me today that with her
first she was with an experienced homeopath who failed to get her started on
remedies when she was late. With that one she ended up with a caesarean. She
has had another since then and that was late as well and had to be induced.
She said she was having visions of the scar from the first one splitting
which knows is stupid. However I found her very calm and collected and just
waiting for something to happen!! I gave her my book of acupressure points
which she wanted to try. She was going to give Caul another try after she
had eaten.

She says she is going to take the antibiotic because she was in hospital
overnight last night and used the toilet. Since her waters have broken she
wants to take extra care. She reckons that the hospital (quite rightly!!) is
not the cleanest of places. Her house is not spotless so I don't think she
particularly has a thing about germs.

Rochelle,
What's her constitutional state? Sometimes the birthing process intensifies
that. I remember reading of one case of delayed birth where the
midwife/homeopath realized that the mom-to-be was "hunkered down," and the
remedy that relaxed her and brought the baby on so fast she could barely
catch it was Calc-c.

Peace,
Cinnabar

Hi Cinnabar,
Firstly I have only seen this woman once for a consultation a couple of
months ago although I treat the rest of the family. At the time she needed
nothing and the only Rx that came to mind for a constitutional was Carc.
which I was not prepared to give her then. She told me that she has had
Lyco. from a homeopath as a constitutional but she didn;t appear to be Lyco
to me!

Please translate "hunkered down"!!

"Hunkered down"? Just imagine a little oyster or clam burrowing into the sand and closing up tight.

Rochelle, my point was only that sometimes these crises are an exaggerated expression of a constitutional state and as such they fail to respond to the usual birthing remedies.

Cinnabar

Thanks for that Cinnabar. Apparently she had a girl at 4.45 pm yesterday but
I know no details. If there is anything interesting to report when I find
out you lot will be the first to know!!
