Dear TC, thanks for this. If you think that the Nat Mur is doing some good
then it is best to wait. It is a deep and long acting Rx and if there are
eruptions appearing you should wait anyway now to see what else happens. I
can't say I could see this Rx in your case presentation but....
I also like the idea of Russell's - Calc Phos. You thought she might be Calc
and obviously there are some Phos elements in the case. Usually Calc Phos
are so irritable and grumpy (which she does not appear to be) but it all
depends on whereabouts on the line of the remedy one is. But either way I
don't see how you can give another remedy just yet, in my opinion.
Best wishes, Joy

Dear Joy
the eruptions was due to Phos, I think, and it cleared up after a few mths.
Calc Phos does have good match, except the mental picture. She will need a
remedy on hand when the migraine attack in a couple of weeks time.
So I still have to decide on a Rx before then.

Dear TC, well the mental picture has to fit being part of the totality. But
like many remedies it all depends on which Materica Medica you read - which
is why you must look up the remedies in several (even if you have a lot of
clinical experience with a particular remedy).
If you read up on Calc Phos in Clarke you get a quite different mental
picture than say, that of Scholten.
I would suggest that you take careful note of her reaction during the next
migraine, i.e. her temperament, this might give you additional help as to
which rx to choose from.
best wishes, Joy.

Dear Joy
Thanks for the advice. I did further enquires and found that she can be irritable
at times, though not grumpy. I have decided to give her Calc. Phos 30c.
I can only get the it in tincture form. How to prescribe dosage?
best regards,
TC

Dear TC, it really depends on how you think best to give dosage - as the
remedy is already in liquid form I would stick with that (i.e. using water)
rather than going to the trouble of making up a dry dose. Personally I would
be giving one dose and then waiting and watching for at least 4/5 weeks.
Good luck and I hope you will send us a follow up of the case.
Best wishes, Joy
I have decided to give her Calc. Phos 30c.>

Case Update
======
Aug 31st - She took a dose of Calc. Phos 30C diluted in water. Within a
week, she had
a minor attack of migraine.
Sept. 2nd week - she was down with flu , she decided to antidote it with
coffee.
She wanted to make sure that the symptoms was not due to Calc
Phos.
Sept 17 - Took 2nd dose after she recovered from flu.
Oct 16 - had migraine - this time the flashes and pain lasted much longer
than usual.
She did not take remedy because she thot she don't need to.
Oct 22 - ask her to take 3rd dose. Complaint about tiredness after that.
A few of her friends commented that she look prettier. I think it was due to
improve complexion.
I think She look brighter and healthier. The migraine on Oct 16 is
perplexing, why did the flashes
lasted longer than usual? Could it be that the VF was fighting to ward off
the onset of pain, but
couldn't as the remedy was used up? Seems like the most logical explanation
to me now.
My current plan is to ensure that she take it monthly and observe it for
another 3 mths.
Not sure if it is the best approach. Any advice will be much appreciated.
Warm rgds

Dear Joy and Friends
I just got a call from my friend. She had 3 migraine attacks in the last 4 hours
Those migraines go thru the whole cycle of seeing flashes to headache.
Upon questioning, I found out that since taking Calc Phos, she had repeated migraine
within the same day on a couple of occassion. The last time she ever had repeated migraine
within a day was when she was still studying. I hope this is a case of disease going back in time.
Would appreciate if you share your view on this case.
Thanks.
Warm regards
TC

Dear TC, thanks for sending the follow-ups.
I have to say I don't really understand why she was given the remedy, then
antidoted it (if in fact this happened), then took another dose, then
another with instructions to take monthly, but she is still getting
migraines. I think my own instinct would be that Calc Phos isn't the right
remedy, she might even be proving the remedy. Perhaps others think
differently. I think I would be re-taking the case.
Hopefully others might have some ideas.

Dear Joy
Thanks for sharing the thots.
The thought of her proving the remedy does not seem
right as the type of migraine she experience is same as her
previous attacks, only differing in intensity and frequency. Otherwise
if the proving produce exact symptoms, then shouldn't it be a similar?
I managed to talk to her again to today. She is quite certain that
she did experienced such frequency and intensity when much younger.
I re-read Miranda Castro's sketch of Calc. Phos in her book"Homoepathic
Guid to Stress". The mental state of Calc. Phos seems to me to suit the Pt
very
well. But it could be a case of close to Calc. Phos. Would love to hear
the experts' view.
I will be away for In-Camp Training for the next few weeks. Unlikely to have
access to the Internet. Will reply once I have opportunity to sit in front
of my computer.
Best Wishes,
TC
