well said - I have been in the same boat with you . The apathy is mind boggling.
But lets keep fighting - if a few get to be heard and start to make the rest understand how very dangerous political apathy is we will see change.

Subject: Re: [Minutus] The Big Picture
I have not been engaged in this conversation, but it is right up my political alley
If we talk about the Big Picture, it needs to expand beyond homeopathy, altho that is where
most of us here come in. In my studies and experience, no single institution works separately from
all the others. Thus, if we study the political conditions of homeopathy we will understand the Grand
Picture; vice versa, if we study what is happening on the larger scale, we will understand what the
strategies and tactics are with/against homeopathy.
A big part of this understanding has to be how people are manipulated on a mass level. We are given a belief system, a set of mythologies. Part of the mythology is that we are independent. American psyche is built in part on the image of the rugged individual who tackled the wild west all by himself, with no help from anyone. Of course every one of the historic icons always had 'their boy,' often a Native American or African American; ie, a person of color who scouted and healed and was a loyal follower. Racism being what it is, these 'side kicks' never counted as they were people of color.
People like to to see themselves as independent intelligent thinkers and actors. When was the last time you tried to tell a PhD that he/she was a sheep:a follower and a coward. Further, most people have no clue that they are bought off with carrots, particularly in the USA. As long as it was needed, the Middle Class was given lots of perks (education, loans, houses, etc). The pay for such comforts was obedience and submission to the system. If are causcasian, white skin privilege is a big piece of the package. And there is medical insurance, a very big carrot. Couple this with the conditioned believe system that doctors are educated, independent thinkers who have all the knowledge for our health and you have a very large segment of the population that will not question anything. Oh, lip service is given all the time to criticisms of "the system" but watch the behavior. Last week this women with a 13 yr old dog who was very sick took him to a vet. Vet had nothing to say regarding what ailed the pooch. Take an a.b. and return in a month! The dog was not eating for over a week. Suggestions for alternative actions were met with a cool 'thank you,' but no actions were taken. This woman is Canadian and in France right now where homeopathy is still legal, but she refused to take the dog to someone other than an allopathic vet. The chances are the dog had some viral condition and we know a.b.s will not help.
The homeopathy community likes to see itself as nice, polite middle class people. They do their work quietly, behind the scenes of the political fray. They act as if they will be left alone if they are good and don't rock the boat with protest letters or marches in the street. They are frightened of being identified.
The Codex alimentrius is never talked about. This is a major effort to institutionalize, globally, the repression of homeopathy, all holistic healing protocols, even organic foods and herbs. What the FDA is doing, is not just the bidding of the American pharmaceutical corporations, but now that of this internationally signed agreement.
And the people won't even look at this. People tell me that I am nuts to talk about this--The US would never ban herbs and supplements and are free choice for health care--if we can afford it. I have been called treasonous for stating the facts of the Codex or other nefarious steps against our civil liberties. Of course people can look up what I say for themselves, but they won't. These facts are inconvenient truths that would disturb their polite lives. Besides, they don't want to be political (as if they have a choice) as it is nasty business and disturbs their social life.
So like the good Germans who wore blinders and chose not to believe what was happening before their eyes, today we see the same situation in this country and other westerns countries. Corporate propaganda galore and no access to the mainstream media for our point of view makes for a closed information loop.
I don't know what it will take to puncture the Cognitive Dissonance and indolence of people; I have been trying for many decades now to try and influence thinking and behavior of people. It is very slow work and can take years before you begin to see any cracks in the belief system. But that is what needs to be done. We need to learn from the reactionary masters how they frame their arguments--it is a science. While we don't have to lie as they do, we do need to learn the art of mass communication skills. This is sorely lacking in our community
