Saw in in upmarket children’s shop yesterday a beautiful little model of a girl kitted out in a Tee shirt with MOI printed on it.
Had the thought that she was going to grow up thinking she was the centre of the world.
It is good that children be loved but !!,
I wonder if Jeremy Scherr’s Q rep would encompass it.

As I recall, the pathological narcissist never progresses beyond an emotional age of 2 1/2. Having lived with one for more years than I care to recall, that seems about accurate.
Peace,

What seems to have happened is that while parents thought to give respect to little johnny and jane’s egos
and not repeat the repression and insensitivity to their childhood needs, they lost track of the need to also
teach the kids responsibility to the community and world around them.
But my children were raised in a collective where communal values of participation, responsibility towards others
were important values we tried to teach. Yet I have a very narcissistic daughter. One of her biggest complaints
was that she wanted to be like the self-centered brats from Long Island with whom she went to school. She resents
feeling responsible for others with rage.
But narcissism also involves an inability to be criticized with real anger/rage if they are. They have to be seen as
perfect. This is way beyond just being self-centered.

That interests me. So are you saying or suggesting that trauma occurred at that age and created a stuck point for these people?

No. She won’t let me treat her. Too controlling and distrustful
I encouraged her to see someone else but money has always been very tight for her
Once she saw a man in Manhattan who was not a classical practitioner. He prescribed
many supplements and a regimen that was totally impossible for her to follow given her
work and life schedule. it was somewhat extreme but she will always find a reason to
not make changes. And will always be very critical and rejecting.

How old is she, and what's her work?
Does she have any health issues, either chronic or occasional / acute? Sometimes physical issues can be a way in to broader treatment.

I wonder how much of a part intestinal flora might play? I read so many interesting way in which that influences us -- including mental states! Apparently vaccination is *one* factor that can hugely and severely skew the intestinal flora (among other effects, of course), but there are many other factors too (far beyond antibiotics also). I have no information on this, just a wondering.
I have a niece who is completely unvaccinated, as is her mother -- and yet has had "issues" from birth, including difficulties in understanding other people, others' points of view, etc. I would not call her narcissistic (at least I don't think so), but something perhaps along that spectrum. This was not for lack of attention on her mother's part; I remember noticing how unusual she was, already by four months old! (First time I saw her.)

Shannon,
Gabriel Cousens also mentioned vegans have better intestinal flora, less candida vs. meat eaters

Was your niece a natural child birth or Caesarian? The latter supposedly may be involved with dysbiosis.
Was she breast fed vs. formula? May also play a role in gut bacteria.
