Re: History of Homeopathy - Decline of homeopathy from most knowledgeable person
No wonder you are confused:-)
Real homeopaths are not practicing as MDs even if they used to be. They rememerb their MD training, (like anatomy, physiology, etc) but they have given up on the toxic and ineffective approaches of being MDs and they become FULL TIME homeopaths.
It is literally not possible to play both roles as the principles behind them are opposite.
Nor can anyone be a veterinarin and homeopath at the same time. It is one or the other.
An MD or vet's role is to suppress disease.
A homeopath's role is to restore health - the opposite of suppression.
The two are incompatible.
It is hard to find a real homeopath, becasue there are way too few of them to go around.
That is not becasue people had bad resulte or ate twinkies.
It's becasue there are not enough homeopaths available to meet the demand.
The statistics by AMA and AVMA on how much people spend on homeopathy and other holistic health compared to what they spend on dangerous western medicine show that the demand for alternatives like homeopathy is not only in existence but people are spending more money there than on western medicine.
I thought there weren't any enthhusiastic users per you:-)
Nothing significant.
Have you ever thought why you never see ads from a homeopath?
No homeopath needs to advertize. The demand is too high to need it, even though repeat customers are not a normal event, as a healed individual does not need to be a repeat customer.
In vethom you do get repeat customers as most folks have multiple animals.
In both cases, word of mouth sends people to homeopaths. It's what got you to an MD (not homeopath) .
There are no ads for homeopathy becasue none are needed.
Homeopathy spreads by word of mouth and reputation due to successful use of it.
Selecting a homeopath who has real training, is not so easy for the public - I do agree that.
To select a doctor you look for MD, to select a vet you loook for DVM. But to select a homepath you actually have to do some homework, as there is no law in USA to say any qualification at all is needed, much less a specific one. So the homeopath seeker needs to be mature enough to take responsibility for selecting a homeopath with care. Word of mouth helps in this.
Each time you went to a homeopath, was it one whose successes has been described to you?
Or just any MD or person claiming to be a homeopath?
Remember, my cat can claim to be a homeopath, she has all the legal qualifications required in USA, as do you. There is no rule about homeopathy credentials in USA, and actually she does know more about homeopathy than most people - for exampe she can say when a remedy is right or wrong for her just by detecting it. I do not know any human who can do that.
Using homeopathy, from the consumer perspective - means FINDING a homeopath which is a bit like finding hen's eyelashes as unlike MDs and Vets who need to advertize, homeopaths have no ads to fall over
.. AND then selecting a qualified person among those claiming to be a homeopath.
There are ways to do it, but it is not a simple process of looking for a few alphabet letters (though that can help).
Word of mouth is important as to which homeopath to see.
Namaste,
Irene

Dear Dr. Rozencwajg,
I will defer to your better information. I have just seen a lot of headlines pop up with my Google News Service about New Zealand and raw milk, but I did not read too deeply. Sorry about that.

Well, seriously, I was too young and ignorant at the time to know whether he was an MD or what. But he was the real deal as for as I can tell from 45 years later. And it worked.
And I am not confused about the great divide. And it is NOT a clear division. Many homeopaths do symptomatic prescribing. And many allopaths, usually accidentally, help people to heal themselves. I am not sure about them deliberating healing like with like. I doubt that. They just don't get that. They would definitely put a person with a high fever in a cold bath; they would not take a person with a high fever and give them a warm or hot bath.
