Hi Ellen you will do fine on a 22 day water fast.
You are under supervision and if it needs to be adjusted with perhaps some lemon and or molasses or honey or greens they will adjust it.
22 days is not that long of a fast for you to be so depleted in minerals and vitamins. You are flushing out the toxins.
They will probably have you doing colonics and or enemas during the fast especially after the 3rd or 4th day. It is important for you to exercise and walk and do body scrubs with a loofah and perhaps some massage.
After the 3rd or 4th day your energy will jump through the roof and you might not need as much sleep as the body is not spending as much time working on the toxins found in the food.
We regularly do a 1 day a week water fast and a 3 day green juice fast every month. Each month it gets easier and easier as we don't get very hungry anymore. If we do, we drink another glass of water and get busy doing something. Might be meditating or walking or treating patients or deep breathing, doing research etc. All cravings will pass in 7 minutes whether for food or alcohol or drug addictions. The key is to distract yourself until it passes.
It is important if not under supervision to build up to longer fasts. We currently have friends on day 42 of a 120 or 160 day fast to be determined when they reach that date. But they worked up to it slowly over 20 years. It is safe for 180 day fasts 1x year when done properly.
Fasting is used to expand the consciousness & widen the inner sight. All great masters have perfected this ˜øˆ Jesus fasted for 40 days and nights to get clarity on his mission.
Frequently these longer fasts are on green juices. It is important to chew your juice to mix the saliva in to digest it properly. Many use a spoon to eat their green juice.
As you know breaking the fast is the key. Starting off with mashed fruit for a few meals on day one, lots of water and then on day two add a whole food such as an organic apple. (Organic is important in the USA as apples are one of the most pesticide and fertilized fruits leading in the dirty dozen) or bananas, etc.
If one starts with heavy contaminated food when breaking a fast it nullifies the whole fast as the toxins just released go straight to the cleaner cellular level.
The third day a small salad and more green juice and water and perhaps some fruit in a smoothie and as whole fruit. Then hopefully continue eating a healthy non-gmo organic diet of fruits and veggies will go far in not recontaminating the body.
It is amazing how much the human body put up with what we are now putting in our bodies in the food, air and water.
It is designed to repair itself until one dies. Even at 120 if you get a cut it will scab over. However once it has had enough toxins that it stored in the liver or fat or organs one experiences degenerative dis-eases and cancers.
Fasting can be a great way to help the body detox and prevent or eliminate dis-ease processes.
While in the beginning stages some can lose a lot of weight but that is not a given. In long fasts the metabolism slows down and preserves the body's organs. Many masters who fast a lot look fat but it is the prana that they are building up that sustains them especially with the deep breathing and meditation. Many breatharians who consume no food do not look anorexic.
