Re: Homeopaths become as one (was UK - MEASLES HITS THE HEADLINES AGAIN)
? Of the handful I have worked with thru the years, one did indeed use some of what we might call combos (Apex and etc.), tho they are more technically called (including on the label) homeotherapeutics. He used them very well, BTW, to excellent effect, with a truly awesome muscle testing method.
But all of that is of course is completely irrelevant to the conversation…
Or maybe you're making a point that I'm missing, about the value of supporting each other while we and our "freedoms" are all under attack?

Re: Homeopaths become as one (was UK - MEASLES HITS THE HEADLINES AGAIN)
I have learned in my political work that building coalitions to win a battle does not mean that
everyone agrees on everything. It is enough that the core issue is defined that everyone will
agree and stay focused on. I have been part of some incredible coalitions with the most
diverse political positions on most things. Yet when an issue arose that affected all, we managed
to come together, stay focused and learned to appreciate what we all had to offer. And most
importantly, we won!
The chiropractors, at least in the US, learn many varieties of practice despite the fact that they
mainly do only 1 or 2 of them. However, there clearly is a hierarchy of judgements that run
thru the profession. But as you saw, the public would hardly know this.
For that matter, the AMA is another major example. An organization created simply to win power
and control over all health decisions and to rein in practitioners who dared to deviate from the
party line. Such internal discipline and the power it wields over all medical people is remarkable
given the very high % of doctors who are not AMA members.

Re: Homeopaths become as one (was UK - MEASLES HITS THE HEADLINES AGAIN)
I don't see why not.
The very word Homeopathy - has a specific meaning - as defined by Hahnemann - and it has to do with the similarity between symptoms of the patient and symptoms known to be helped by a remedy.
It seems to me ANYTHING that can be covered within that definition is homeopathy.
Anything that cannot fit that definition, is outside of homeopathy.
Further details are not needed.
There is no need for example to all agree whether or not that covers prophylaxis (as I see it does per APh 141 but others do not agree) etc.
The individual INTERPRETATION of that principle can be omitted form any unification of what constitutes homeopathy.
....but the need to match symptoms of patient with symptoms of remedy - THAT is the essence and common ground of homeopathy.
How we each use that - is individual.
Mixtures are NOT homeopathy as they do not fit that definition of matching symptoms of patient to symptoms of remedy.
Within this, we individually make MANY varied choices:
Some match more than one remedy ..............but they DO MATCH symptoms of patient and symptoms of remedy.
Some stuck to what they call Hahnemann's approach or potency selections. Some use new selections liek Fibonacci series. No matter - it still matched symptoms of patient to symptoms of remedy.
and a long list of variations in practice can be named - no matter!
Just as allopathy matches drug/treatment to disease - we match symptoms of patient to symptoms of remedy.
It's a VERY general definition within which we all vary - but that is the key principle on which there's no excuse to disagree.
Mixopathy is NOT homeopathy - the WORD homeopathy requires symptoms of patient match symptoms of remedy. (Homeo - Greek root... Similar; Pathos - Greek root for Suffering/pathology.)
or "Simila similubus curentur"
THAT is the essential minimum definition or Homeopathy - matching symptoms of a patient to symptoms of remedy. NOTHING else will invoke the natural healing powers of nature (The Law of Similars) that are active when that matching process is correct.
How we individually achieve that matching is not relevant to what constitutes homeopathy - it's an individual practice thing - but at its core - the matching of patient and remedy symptoms - IS homeopathy.
If we agree that basic principle - we have a cohesive and unified whole which has the Law of Similars to prove it efficacy. Is that not all we need to agree here to provide a uniform front to those who do NOT understand WHY homeopathy works? After all, this matching process, IS why homeopathy works. It IS homeopathy.
Namaste,
Irene

As much as I'd like to support this view - but suppose there's a combo
on the market containing various potencies of Lyc., Sulph., Calc., Med.,
various Merc's, Sep., some snake poisons, etc..
What about similarity, in such a 'remedy'?

Let us not confuse a preparation created by who knows who and the basic
definition, in its simplest and most common denominator of a practice.
Soup is generally a mix of many plants, that does not not make it the
symbol of herbalism/phytotherapy.

Similarity comes in because the *assumption* is that the mixture contains a remedy which has the needed symptom similarity.
Yes I know it's "not homeopathy" per Hahnemann's stipulation about "one remedy at a time."

It is not homeopathy.
There cannot be any similarity of symptoms of patient to symptoms of a mixture as the symptoms of a mixture are unknown.
If someone wants to make a mixture and run a proving to document what symptoms it may help - THEN it can be used as a homeopathic remedy - not otherwise.

Re: Homeopaths become as one (was UK - MEASLES HITS THE HEADLINES AGAIN)
The definition need not stipulate one remedy at a time. It DOEWS need to stipulate the basic principle of similarity of symptoms of individual to symptoms of remedy as otherwise there is no Law of SImilars - no "homeopathy".
If someone wants to claim there is similarity of patient symptoms to the symptoms of a mixture - and that it will invoke the law of similars - let them try. But the onus is on them to prove it. It's not part of the definition.
