Hi Everyone again,

I thank you all for your responses and I'd like to give you some history of my situation.

I saw and spoke with many different homeopaths all of whom were certified, educated in homeopathy, and had great resumes. I saw each of them (not at the same time) for at least 6 months and longer but no improvement in condition was felt or seen. I will not name names but will give you briefly some of their credentials:

-one has a school of their own and studied under a well known homeopath; one is an MD and homeopath and writer; a couple homeopaths and PhDs seemed extremely qualified and even have their own product lines sold at stores; there was a homeopath who was also Oriental Medicine doctor and acupuncturist too.

I was truly losing faith in homeopathy at this time. However, I also had a puppy I was experiencing problems with so concurrently I was trying to find a good homeopathic vet to consult with. I discovered Glen Dupree. I started with Glen working on puppy issues. As he helped me with the pup I asked Glen (actually begged) if he could help with issues concerning my daughter and myself and he kindly and graciously agreed. Within weeks/months deterioration of health issues stopped and signs of improvement were felt and seen. I was with Glen for about 3 years until he passed recently. I've never met a more remarkable, kind, hard working, generous, human being in my life. I was blessed by God to know him and I miss him dearly. He helped me tremendously with all my family members even though he was a DVM/homeopath.

He started working with my daughter on a new health development before his death and now I'd like to find someone who can continue helping me out. Hence my request here.

I can't afford to waste tons of money and time going through what I went through before. And I learned that education and certification is not a basis on which I can rely on, unfortunately. Personal experience is best so that's what I was hoping to find here.

I think you hit on point that is big with me. That is his generosity of spirit.
Many homeopaths, products of the times they live in, get caught up in the
money-making end of the practice. Many are taught, like allopaths, to
cut their case-taking time. They lose patience with the situation.
Most social workers, for example, have people they use as mentors to
help them with stay clear on their personal issues so they don’t interfere
with their practice. I have not seen this with homeopathic training. Quite
the contrary. People do their classwork and get sent out to practice. If
there is a professional friend to talk with, that is great. But it is not built
in to the training.
Glen Dupree, who had a great reputation, was unique. Most practitioners
have a friendly veneer but may not have the same spirit that moves them.
I think this shows up in how they practice.

Yes that information is easily checked/verified. It's just a matter of asking the right questions about having had enough hours of training and in what type of homeopath/which school...and how they prescribe. Once the consumer does that they must then trust their intuition and of course consider price and other factors not relating to education and training.

Something else a consumer should understand is that years of experience/number of cases done are not always a good indication of how treatment will go with them. Some of my best cases in certain pathology was in the very beginning. I understand more now in certain ways after 14 years, yes, but don't be put off by someone relatively new.

Maria, please don't tout the CCH as being 'the' place to find a good homeopath. We did fine before the CCH and it has no bearing in the US on the legality of practice, being covered by insurance, etc. One can have CCH but still not have many of the skills and knowledge *really* needed to be an excellent homeopath. It is a choice but by no means should it be held as the best way to be determined good and knowledgeable. Let all of our cured clients be the indicator of that.

Any type of learning and training is only a skeleton, a blueprint, a template that has to be completed by the student, continuously and permanently....it is an attitude of open-mindedness, of looking for answers in the weirdest places at times and of challenging oneself.

All the wallpaper you can have (and my walls are plastered with them!) means only that you took the time and spent the money to get educated....it does not mean it was successful, believe me, I can personally attest to that, looking at some of my certificates and degrees and wondering........

The best recommendation is word of mouth and the best precaution a practitioner can take is to tell the patient there is a possibility the actual treatment prescribed is not correct and will have to be changed...

I do know homeopaths with lots of hours of study, internships, credentials, whom I would avoid at all costs....

And the same pattern exists in all branches of medicine, including conventional .

Any type of learning and training is only a skeleton, a blueprint, a template that has to be completed by the student, continuously and permanently....it is an attitude of open-mindedness, of looking for answers in the weirdest places at times and of challenging oneself.

Thanks Joe, that's also what I was getting at. Through good and dedicated work there are referrals. Credentials schmedentials, most are no indication of how one practices, their true skills, heart and range of knowledge of even other arenas that come into play and help a patient
