Do we ignore suppression? The minimum dose? Symptom totality?

For the purposes of defining homeopathy to non-homeopaths yes, ignore the details.
Those have to do with how good a homeopath is - not *what* homeopathy is.
To compare:
Doctors do not argue about whether the "practice of medicine" involves using antibiotics for virus infections or which cancers get steroids as treatment or any other details of HOW to practice. Those are choices doctors make, good or bad - not definitions of the profession to non-members.

We need a basic principle that defines homeopathy, without the controversies of HOW we use it, to unify us to the "outside"....to define the profession as opposed to defining how it is practiced.

Kinda like plumbing is about "running pipes to carry fluids". How to run them, and which type of pipes and where to lay them and whether they get backflows or leak etc - is HOW plumbing is practiced not WHAT plumbing is about. Leave out HOW it is practiced. Just define the basic concept of matching patient symptoms to remedy ones to invoke the Law of Similars. I see that as our equivalent of "running pipes to carry fluids".
It's not arguable, it's fixed and basic.

I honestly can't see anything wrong with what Irene is proposing here. I understand what she is saying. We have got to find something that everyone can agree on, whether they're practising Hahnemann's methods or not. We need a common base to build from . Even those who don't use Hahnemann's teachings, this definition would apply, and that is : "the matching of symptoms of patient and remedy to invoke the Law of Similars.." What is so wrong with that?
This has nothing to do with how each one of us practice.

Too involved.
We do not necessarily treat disease. We may palliate etc - it is part of HOW - not part of WHAT homeopathy is.
Size of dose is not basic either - it is also part of HOW we use homeopath and we need to only include WHAT is homeopathy.
Nor do we necessarily use natural substaces. We can make a remedy out of anything. Again it is part of HOW we use homeopathy - not part of defining what it s.
Healthy people and producing symptoms are not part of the definition either - they are part of the details of how provings are done - which is HOW homeopathy is used - not what homeopathy is.

We need to not complicate it with things or explanations that vary from one to another's way of USING the system.

.....Just symptoms of individual (makes no difference whether plant, animal or human) must match symptoms of remedy to invoke Law of Similars.

.......Noting more in depth as that gets into HOW we use that principle.

Nobody has the right to send email where it is not solicited. It costs the receiver money and is classified as spam!
SO it is wrong to "forward" any email unless you KNOW in advance that the person you forward it to, DOES want it.....

I really did think posting the information would be of interest to the list as it is about "setting standards and competencies" in the States.

As I received it as an email addressed to me, I wasn't quite sure about posting it to the list. When I saw the "blue forward this email link", I read it as permission to forward.

I did not think about each person paying to receive it as I log into Yahoo and scan thru the group emails and pick and choose which ones are of interest.
