My only problem with it is that it takes forever to read. My (B. Jain) edition is supported from the rear by two browseable search engines (index of remedies and therapeutic index, with indents under drug referring to conditions and under condition referring to drugs)

Actually it has been, with Nash, one of the mandatory basic textbooks we had to read in our third year at the Israeli College.....
My only problem with it is its lack of searchability, but I must have been spoiled by the computer life.............

Hi Rik,

In Hersu's Cycles and Segments case/remedyMM/proving schema, you would study remedies that share the same segment (eg. bleeding) but you would not necessarily limit your studies to the same family (snakes).
Will Taylor's first lecture on Botanical Families(WHN internet classroom) made it very clear that these categorization schemes are hardly trustworthy. They are being confirmed and reorganized by DNA analysis, but Homologous (exactly the same family) and analogous (appearing the same eg bat and bird wings) can be misleading. He brought up the example of Phytolacca and Mercury. Very similar on both the physical and psychological level. The Nux-v and Ignatia which are in the same genus thus very closely related, but quite different on all levels though sharing some physical symptoms. The Arnica family (??) is another example. Dulc is quite different from the more hysterical members. But as a fringe member, you may suspect the more hysterical members then something like agg damp sets you on to Dulc. I am all ears for hearing Dr. Taylor's further analysis.

Homeopathy is basically a phenomenological science. The repertory takes this to the extreme, but it works if only we can find some basic organizing scheme. I am working with Herscu's research for that purpose. But, obviously many others are trying to find the fit between homology and analogy of characteristics.

They're worth it, though. His case notes are verbatim and the patients really come alive in them.
