Thanks Donna - the problem with our UK NHS is that they keep the X- rays and we have no way we can ask for a scan or anything if the doctor doesn't think it is necessary. Stress fracture is interesting because it makes me think of Symphytum and Calc Phos tissue salts for her. She is a very fit working 65 yr old.

Dear Jo,
I agree re the osteopath - which is where I am off to today. At the time she did it I suggested she go to a certain sports therapist as my osteopath was away and I truly thought she did. However it appears that she popped in there and was given a tube of cooling gel instead of getting an treatment appointment. She doesn't like having to pay out for things although she is still working!!
I may post some of your reply to her to make her see sense!!

My judo teacher in Japan was not only a kyuudan (9th degree black belt), he also did honetsugi (bonesetting). When a friend dislocated his elbow, I brought him to the sensei rather than to a doctor. Brutal but quick.

Oh my. Makes me glad I did not study judo. My sensei's sensei was a dear tiny little old man that make Yoda look like a spring chicken – but he moved with fluid grace (and could knock a towering football player down with a finger and a little laugh). I distinctly remember his healing being so very gentle – like water flowing. And his knowledge of herbs was amazing – just required an interpreter and a botany book to get things clear when we spoke. My sensei (Hachidan at that time) was a wee less gentle – but you felt like you had been near a furnace. Neither were brutal.

Gee, I didn't mean to imply that my sensei was brutal. He, like yours, was the most gentle and self-effacing of men. What was brutal was that the reducing was done without any painkillers. That's just the way it was, and my friend preferred that because it was cheaper than getting caught up in the Japanese medical system.
