I tried that many years ago, before it became the latest fad used to
overcome the issues caused by dairy. If I need advice on diet though,
there are plenty of lists on the internet that cover those subjects.

I find it rather odd, and sad, that most of the mails to this list
today have been about diet, especially when someone asked for help with
homeopathy, and has been largely ignored.

But Hahnemann, the gold standard, considered diet to be very important. And it is one of the exciting /maintaining causes in people's health issues - I see no problem with discussing it within the context of health.

Diet is a complex and divisive subject, and there are masses of lists
that discuss it in detail. The information on milk wasn't in context
with anything.

I agree it's a legitimate subject here. This is not an obscure nutritional issue, but a very big one, and pretty straightforward. People are being poisoned by milk constantly which can complicate matters and interfere with healing treatments. Part of the case in many autistic patients is an issue with milk. It has been very valuable to switch to raw organic milks (and some other similar recommendations), which otherwise no remedy alone can unravel. We would always want to help point out maintaining causes/aggravators, and these days since there is such a spectrum of them present in daily life for most people, we are of much better service if we are aware of them, and inform our patients. There is unfortunately not a pool of nutritionists that understand it as well as some of us, so we're it.

People are being poisoned by lots of substances in their diet, not just
milk. Again we are back to individualisation and looking at all aspects
of what people consume, but there are many different opinions on what is
and isn't a suitable diet, and that is why it is best discussed on lists
aimed at diet rather than ones on homeopathy. If diet is going to
become a main topic, then the list could be swamped by everyone's
entrenched views on the subject. We have members whose view of diets
range from veganism all the way across to those who eat raw meat and
consider that to be the best diet. Can you imagine what a battle
ground this forum would become if everyone started to put in their
opinions of what is and isn't the correct diet for a human? Not to
mention all the cultural differences across the world with regards diet:
it isn't just Americans and British on this list.

We do actually have a section of the rep that covers food agg and amel
and if we look at just one topic that has come up with regards diet in
the last few days: melons, we have the following rubric:

GENERALS - FOOD and DRINKS - melons - agg.

So if one person's advice was followed we could actually be doing harm
rather than good.

The issue of milk is also not straightforward as there is a mass of info
pointing to the damage done by consuming it in adulthood, whether it be
raw or processed, and the damage done to children by giving them cows
milk rather than breast milk.

Kerry, the only thing that's made this a "main topic" is your eagerness to have the last word on it. I have not seen the answering swell that you seem to fear, of "...members whose view of diets range from vewganism all the way across to those who eat raw meat..." Why not just let people have their say, move on to other topics, and let it die? *Your* remarks are the main ones keeping the topic going. You've made your points; why not just let it be?

I must have spent so long watching you on the list over the years that I
have caught the same bug. :-) :-)

Yes, but pointing out potential dietary problems (be it from your own experience or your own culture) is helpful. It doesn't mean we have to go into them in detail. Simply building awareness is very helpful.
I for one find it interesting.

That was the point, yes. No need to create an argument. Doesn't leave out the ideal of breastfeeding. Doesn't discount whether it's right as a species or not, etc. etc. Yes, we know there are food aggravations in Rep. Let's take good points where they can apply in a positive light.
