But it does indeed come down to reading the remedies; so for now, I'm just using the larger rubric, and will read!

As a point of... well, I guess just information rather than discussion, but--In my own usage, and I believe commonly (at least US), the terms "lying" and "lying down" have been basically interchangeable: "Where's dad?" "Oh, he's lying down for a while." (Not the motion; and you wouldn't say "he's lying for a while".) Or, "He'll be lying in bed for a while." (Tho "lying down for a while" would be much the more usual way to say it.)

Sigh, language is tricky, and I take this as a reminder. Would it be clearer if written, "< motion, lying down"??? (Still needs reading to get specific meaning, tho.) Just my thought.

you are right, not easy sometimes to derive to the right conclusion while reading the MM material.
But since it is a big difference in terms of activity, I think it is worthwhile to try...
