Hi Liz,
A group of us are about to do a little home-based research in this area.
Did you use the Helix tosta 6X as suggested by Kaviraj, or a different potency?
He claims the plant takes it up and that after one dose of 6X, snails will bypass that plant to eat unsprayed plants for 4 months.

Hi Fran
Yes - I used Helix 6X - and just as he recommends i.e: only one application per growing season.
My beans have survived, although I have to say that in the early days I also went out at night with a torch - and found quite a few small slugs eating them, which I picked off.
After a while, I decided that maybe the remedy was indeed working for snails (never found one single snail on my beans!) and that perhaps I should try a remedy made from slugs as well (more specific) So I ordered it from Helios and have used that too (one aplication).
Since then, we have had quite warm, dry weather, so it's difficult to know what has helped. Also, my beans are now big and healthy - I think I need to experiment again next year.
I'm going to plant out some sprouting broccoli plants soon - will observe what happens there.
Would love to keep in contact over this! Are you in the states, or the UK? (I'm in the UK)
