Sometimes I also feel that there could be some underlying maintenance cause which my homeopath was unable to diagnose.

But then all homeopath works on symptons and in case patient have soemthing serious like ulcer, inflammation which patient himself does not know than without any doagnostic tests how come homepath can prescribe medicine.

Like in my IBS case possible reasons could be parasitic infection, candida or something serious like chrons etc( though I have ruled out possibilty of anything seriuos by undergoing alloptahic tests) howcome homepath can arrive at correct diagnosis just on the basis of symptoms. In many cases the symptons of two different diseases like IBS or chrons's are almost similar.

As I am new to homeopathy so just curious to know to get correct diagnosis/treatment from my new homeopath. Do I need to undergo all the necessary allopathic tests before going to homeopath

Regards

Hello Amit,

Your homeopath would be the best one for you to discuss these things with.

Some homeopaths do obtain allopathic medical testing where it may be thought by them to be of use in the case.

You do understand that the S in "IBS" is syndrome;
syndrome means "collection of symptoms"
thus your "allopathic doctor" (if you've seen one) give you "diagnoses"
which means "bunch of symptoms"

Chron's disease, ulceratitve colitis, many other "diagnosis" of similar symptoms are likewise just putting a name on a bunch of symptoms. One of allopathic medicine's specialties :-)

Please discuss your concerns with your homeopath; these are good questions.
In general, homeopaths do not treat a "random assortment" of symptoms, but rather, are trying to see a pattern of symptoms, and associate these with a homeopathic medicine which it is hoped (and often the case) provides a "deep" way of removing an un-named underlying subset of causation, working along the lines which you have intuited of:

"some underlying maintenance cause"

If your homeopath cannot discuss this with you to your satisfaction, you may be correct in seeking another.

The aim of homeopathy in long term chronic illness, is always to address this cause;
the term we use for it is: miasm.

Indian pxs carry their own medical cards with them to clinic appointments -- or at least they do in Kerala. Everything goes on the card, including diagnosis and Rx. Whether the practice is the same for pxs treated in private practice, I don't know.

Dale

I changed my homeopath. It seems that change of homeopath is working as I could feel positive changes in my condition though it's only 4th day since I started taking his prescribed medicines.

Though the new homeopath is a classical one but I need a small advise on his way pf prescription.

He took my case history and suggested following doses:
- 1 dose of medicine#1 morning every 7th day( seems to be constitutional)
- 2 dose of medicine#2 morning & bedtime in between 6 days
- 3 dose of medicine#3 in a day along with medicine#2 in between 6 days

Now as a whole ha has prescribed 3 medicines out of which 1 seems to be constitutional. Now I would like to know that is it within limits of classical homeopathy to prescribe multiple remedies. I am asking this because I have heard that in classical way of treatment only one remedy is prescribed. Pleas advise wether this time I am in correct hands or not.

Thanks

Why not go forward with some faith and trust unless you have reason to believe are not progressing, Jean

Dear Amit,

I wonder if you have been clear when speaking with these homeopaths?
I might also speculate on your suspicions; and the fact that you wish to discuss those on a semi-public email forum...
what is your purpose ? If it is to utilize homeopathy to your benefit, you must speak all of your mind
-not here, but with the homeopath in whom you (finally) place your full trust and confidence.

Most of the people on this list are here because they are interested in, or practice "Hahnemannian" (which some people call "classical") homeopathy.

One of the primary tenets of "our" Hahnemannian homeopathy is stated by Hahnemann:
aphorism 273 of the 6th Organon.
"In no case of cure is it necessary to employ more than a SINGLE SIMPLE medicinal substance at one time with a patient. FOR THIS REASON ALONE, it is INADMISSIBLE TO DO SO. It is inconceivable that there could be the slightest doubt about whether it is more in accordance with nature and more reasonable to prescribe only a SINGLE SIMPLE, well know medicinal substance at one time in a disease or a mixture of several different ones. In homoeopathy-the only true and simple, the only natural medical art-it is absolutely prohibited to administer to the patient, AT ONE TIME, two different medicinal substances."
