The fresh plant is crushed to extract/express its juice.
Oleander is very poisonous, do not try this at home! Anyone read the novel, "White Oleander"?

Oleander poisoning occurs when someone sucks nectar from the flowers or
chews leaves from the oleander or yellow oleander plant.
Poisoning can also happen if you eat honey made by bees that used the
oleander plant for nectar.

Great case, thanks. I once gave Oleander to an elderly man who had terrible vertigo, no-one could find the cause. So bad he could hardly move, felt he was being paralysed with the feeling.

It can also cause heart/respiratory issues in susceptible people just
by gardening around it, or inhaling smoke when it is burnt.
