I find that the simillimum (which is always the appropriate remedy to
use) is NOT always the same remedy as the one to match innate
constitution. So I will always use the simillimium. However in some
diseases - generally life threatening chronic one-sided diseases for
example - I'll ALSO use the innate constitutional remedy as
background support.
People are welcome to agree or disagree - but the result of doing
this is that cases considered incurable become curable.
Hahnemann himself was an excellent example of an experimenter in
homeopathy who sought "what worked". It's that goal of something that
works which always led to his experimenting more and more....see his
paris case books; he did it till his death. I'm also interested in
what works - and see this as truly homeopathic. Both the simillimum
for the illness and the innate constitutional remedy for the support
of the constitution with its weaknesses and strengths, are chosen by
their homeopathicity - the symptoms MATCH in each instance.

OK, now apply this to diabetes. Is diabetes considered a one-sided disease? Reading aph. 172-184, seems to depend at what point in life you make the evaluation. Few if any symptoms present early in life, many symptoms later in life.

Hahnemann didn't have the luxury of blood tests to show underlying symptoms years before they become physically observable. Today we do. Doesn't mean they today shouldn't be thought of as symptoms if they are outside of the norm.

If diabetes is a one-sided disease, miasmatic in nature, other than the "innate" constitutional remedy, what determines the current simillimum? For example, you reversed advanced diabetic complications (glaucoma, kidney damage, neuropathy) using diet. I'm trying to avoid those using diet. If we both diverge from our respective diets, we will exhibit the symptoms of diabetes though they will not be the same exact symptoms. Other than using acute remedies for each diabetic symptom as it occurs there is not going to be one simillimum to cover those current diabetes symptoms that one may have when their case is taken. That wouldn't seem to be a proper approach anyway, if one wants a cure.

Some homeopaths are using the term Advanced Hahnemann Methods. Not sure if they mean solely 6th ed. Organon and /or techniques like using an anti-miasmatic intercurrent or another you term experimenting. What are examples of Paris casebook cases that show cures of chronic illness or miasmatic disease using an "Advanced" or experimental technique? How can you determine when Hahnemann is experimenting or maybe deviating from his published Organon directions, like possibly using more placebos at times?

Hi Shannon,
?? I don't get it. I answered to Irene's post and addressed it to her
and "others". Where did I go wrong?:-)

Two examples:
A current case is a life threatening chronic disease (one-sided type
but a nasty disease that tends to metamorphose along the way) with
simillimum started out as China. Good response to China 30C
initially, but then needed 200C - which aggravated. Back to 30C, case
slid back, no progress. So back to 200C 1 drop followed by rescue
remedy 3 doses 5 mins apart to help the life force accept the higher
potency. This sort-of held and cat's demeanour showed improvement but
little and slow - and the disease moves fast. So that was too knife-
edge and iffy to be sure it could get health back.
So I added in the innate constitutional of Ars, 30C, putting China in
one saucer and Ars in another to test (breakfast time) whether the
cat also wanted Ars. He turned away from China, and sniffed the Ars
so he got a dose of Ars. He improved a lot that day but by evening
was flagging and so both rems were offered again - and this time he
chose China. Improved again. So now he is getting China in evening
and Ars in am, and is making steady progress at last. [The
relationship of remedies table shows Ars and China work well
alternating, as each antidotes the other and "follows well"].

Another example:
A woman in my knitting group was moving to another state and taking
her cat. She's never moved before and was also concerned about making
it easy on her cat. Wanted to know how to help her cat adjust to a
new place, as she's a bit of a loner cat and owner wondered if she'd
handle a move well. (Cats do not like moving, it interferes with
their basic predator feelings about security.) I asked a long list of
questions in the hope that her cat might have an innate
constitutional type I could recognize and thus know how that type
handles life.
I confirmed it by asking questions like:
Does she have a bit of a pot belly?
Does she occupy your chair in your absence?
Does she avoid heights?
Does she sort of pour off a chair or perch rather than hopping daintily?
Does she often carry her tail hanging down and walk with a bit of a
waddle?
Does she his/spit at other cats who disturb her?
Is she quite cobby but not especially large as a cat?
Is he face quite a short one, the tail not especially long?
and so on...
I had fun watching the surprised expressions as I described her
cat's appearance and movements and likes and dislikes without ever
having seen it:-)
The point is that knowing the cat is Sepia enabled me to suggest
giving some aqueous doses of Sep 200C to help her adjust to moving
and a new apartment in a new town. I knew this would help as Sep is
very sensitive to noises etc - which would all be different there -
and the remedy would assist. Basically the innate constitutional
remedy will help any cat/individual over its innate constitutional
weakness areas when under stress - and for cats, moving qualifies as
very high stress.
I had not heard of it before. I can understand facial features
associated with innate constitution, I definitely do see that
relationship - but not miasms.
I do not feel convinced (at this stage?) of miasms being associated
with innate constitutional type. I believe miasms can be imposed on
pretty much any type even though some might have higher
susceptibility to particular miasms than others.
Right. Whatever remedy is needed at whatever time - needs to be
discovered from scratch using current symptoms.
It MIGHT turn out to be the innate constitutional remedy - or not:-)
Yes I'd agree with that.
Thanks - I plan to, it's on a to-do list:-)

Namaste,
Irene

Hi Tanya,
There are several ways that humans have been categorized using
morphology, but i find the homeopathic approach much more individual
and specific. There are very few categories in any other system,
sometimes only three (ectomorph, endomorph, mesomorph and sometimes
more (6 in the genotype diet approach).
In homeopathy - there is far more to it - the innate type matches
a remedy very closely in type, and the morphology between remedies/
innate type is far more detailed than the very general examples in
other morphology categories, down to things like face shape, teat/
nipple shape and foot size, whether flat etc. And of course the
entire remedy fits so the mind, general and specific sx also fit the
remedy.
ANY remedy may be an innate type of an individual, there is no
limit. There are as many different innate types as there are remedies
in nature. It's not like there are only a half dozen or dozen options.
So I doubt that any current morphology studies will lead to an
innate remedy being identified.

For example:
If you compare morphology of two very large built types, you
differentiate the innate remedy on the details.
The personality will be vastly different of course - but even the
morphology is very different in the details. One has longer leg to
torso ratio -one will have longer tail, or smaller feet/hands, or the
ears will start large in one and grow large later in another, one has
fine long fur the other short coarser fur, one will start out runt
size and grow huge later, the other will start big and keep going,
one will walk heavily, the other lightly, one an acrobat, the other
needing terra firma and so on.
An innate constitutional remedy matches LOTS of features, not just
general ones as morphology types tend to do.

Namaste,

Not nearly as many as I'd like even as a starting place in this area
- one of the main reasons for delaying a book so I can develop some
more first:-)
However, identifying them all - or even a large number - will have to
be an ongoing work, it is a huge job:-)
I've not listed the ones I know yet, I guess I'll do that some day:-)
The problem also is that one has to find many examples to know what
features are really characteristic and always there - as opposed to
individual quirks:-)

Who was it Boenninghausen? throwing symptoms into a box and sorting them later. With capacity of a computer to sort in a relational database, it's a lot easier today. But, yes a huge task and you have other life work projects as well.
Best,
Ellen

Hi Luise,
Sorry, my disambiguation was so seamless that the *correction* became
ambiguous! :-)

Your original post appeared thus:

How on earth do people do that? Or, if those constitutional types are

Which to a quick glance looks as tho you're replying to me, and as tho
the quote had been mine. Anyone who's been following the thread would
quickly know that it is *Irene*, not I, who's been doing work with cat
constitutional types, but since the "... Shannon Nelson wrote" appears
directly above the quote, and no words of mine were quoted, I just
thought I'd set the record straight. A "disease" not worth the "cure",
methinks... :-P

Hi Shannon,

Yes, I see.

I'll try!!! to be more careful in the future.

Thanks for pointing it out.
