organic butter is pretty good, expecially if you can find it made from
raw milk.
years ago in the usa, and now till in many parts of the world, people
consume full fat meats and dairy produts and do not suffer with the
heart disease that exists in western, industrialied nations. as other
cultures change their diets they begin to show the same medical
insufficiencies.

I read that butter was better than margarine clear back in the early 90s. The case against margarine was so convincing to me that I haven't allowed any in my house since. It's been gratifying to see science "catch up."

Irene,

That was an excellent, informative and thought provoking post! I agree with much of what you have written and applaud your culling from various sources. The topic of inflammation and measuring your C reactive protein (CRP) blood level, along with the topic of insulin and how uncontrolled high levels of insulin are very damaging is just beginning to be acknowledged by mainstream allopathy.

The following Life Extension 8/08 article provides current complementary medical thinking on insulin resistance and inflammation.

http://www.lef.org/magazine/mag2008/aug ... ack_01.htm

As you mentioned, you're been busy undoing and preventing further damage from diabetes. I still haven't shown any damage yet, no protein in urine, no retinal damage, no loss of foot pulse, but I know it's only a matter of time which is why I feel the rush to find further homeopathic and nutritional approaches because I average blood glucose around 175. But that is accomplished using Glucophage/metformin and at times Byetta ( the synthetic gila monster saliva drug recently in the news). Basically, it is the Atkins Diet for the first 30 years of my life that has slowed the eventual negative effects of my destined genetic miasm programming for diabetes. It's much more than a tendency.

You didn't mention your A1C blood levels, which will reflects the AGE damage being done. I'd expect they've way dropped since your blood sugar dropped substantially. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HbA1c

You have a superb handle on all of this, be what else can one do, homeopathically? I already have 2 constitutional remedies. (I have a 2nd miamatic illness). I turned to Dr. Ramakrishnan's methods because I realized that one's constitutional remedy is not going to solely "cure" diabetes. You wrote,
How does one KNOW they are receiving proper and correct homeopathic miasm treatment? What is the definition? Taking a constitutional, followed by an anti-miasmatic nosode, followed by a constitutional? How does one know when methylation "happens"?

Dr. Perricone, who became famous for using anti-inflammatory diet and supplements for cosmetic and skin wrinkle issues, does have some interesting info. Because of him, I have been regularly using Brazilian Acai berry, unsweetened of course ;)

Still, Irene, everyone is individual, and not just for homeopathic prescribing. The general guidelines you provide are great but I've found some don't work for me. I don't lose weight unless I'm in ketosis. Acai berry has a very high ORAC value, so my antioxidant levels should be sky high. I don't see it has helped much. The Atkins Diet lowers my insulin level, eating any carbs raises them along with increased blood pressure, increased pulse rate, expected for insulin/metabolic resistance. While standard Atkins dieting can provoke inflammation, it immediately stops the problems of high circulating insulin levels. The Atkins Diet has kept my cholesterol and triglyceride normal and insulin levels LOW. There is also the rarely discussed or explored benefits of being in ketosis. I feel better, all my allergies are greatly reduced, I have more energy and I lose weight. It is a natural diuretic and lowers blood pressure. My heart shows no sign of any problems due to high sat fat intake. I can even keep blood glucose in check if I am careful not to use certain products, like Splenda, which has a negative liver effect for me. Interestingly, while I react violently to aspartame when not on the Atkins Diet, it has almost nil effect when in ketosis. Lastly, I feel better eating animal sat fat, not vegetable sat fat like avocado and coconut and overall will eat much less because I'm not hungry all the time because my insulin levels stay LOW. That's part of my constitution. Plus, I do not handle excess fiber well which is what everyone seems to be advocating for.

Regards,

Susan

Yup, "they say" it takes about 20 years for an idea (a good one, that
is) to go from "fringe" to mainstream. Seems about right!

It is dairy without the lactose and makes a good fuel if you need fuel.
But if you eat more than you need for fuel, it stores as fat.

It's WAY better than any margarine for health - because margarine is
made from inflammatory oils and butter is neutral on the inflammation
scale provided it is not in excess.
Ghee is better than butter, and can be anti-inflamamtory. (It is
clarified butter)
No skim was not mentioned either:-)

(Sorry - couldn't resist!)

Namaste,
Irene

Shannon,

Omega 9's are mainly UNsaturated fat, liquid at room temperature.
Olive oil is a MONOsaturated omega-9.

Coconut oil is 90% saturated fat, 6% mono and 2% polyunsaturated
fats.

It is helpful for yeast infections as in contains caprylic acid.

For diabetics, a tablespoon can bring down blood sugar 10-20+
points. I just get nauseous from the taste of it. Try frying eggs,
battered shrimp or other items in it as it can go high temps. Use
unrefined first and organic if possible.

Another healthy saturated vegetable fat oil is unrefined red palm
oil.

Ghee, clarified butter, supposedly is healthier. It was common
practice, in the day, to keep the fat from bacon and reuse it to
cook/fry. I tried this, using non-nitrite bacon. Eggs taste great
in it.

One theory from Dr. Atkins is that obesity increased when McDonalds,
which used lard to fry the fries, switched to "healthy" trans fatty
partially hydrogenated omega 6 oils. Now they've switched to non-
trans fat canola based blends. It will take years to see if any
effect.

That is scary high IMO and is doing damage even though you do not see
it in lab tests yet. (Did you know the kidney has to be at least 75%
scar tissue damage before the lab test shows anything?)
.....and in your shoes I'd be cutting out the carbs that cause it.
I think it is - no offense intended - "being in denial" to allow the
diet you are on to continue to damage your system.
Not seeing the damage now does NOT mean it is not there - it is
happening every minute that your glucose is over 110.
Remember mine was that way with no symptoms for 7 years (except maybe
the heart attacks after 3 and a bit years).
And I still have damage not fixed yet.
I know a woman here with no leg. She also had "no symptoms" a long
time. Research shows that damage IS occurring at 110.

To change that - if you choose to change it - IMO do not wait for
homeopathy, just use diet. Homeopathy can follow if you can get it
right - to remove the cause.
But diet can stop the effects - now.
(You might need a VERY strict diet initially.)

...and ghee is supposed to be even better than non-clarified butter. More stable, less likely to create free radicals on being overheated and more absorbable short chain f.a.'s.
Might even reduce LDL cholesterol in rats, which would no doubt be a relief to the rodent population. And ghee tastes nice.

Hi Teresa,

Well:-)

On the other hand, all through history meat, fish was a luxury for
many if not most people. If at all, they had it on Sundays. The same
goes for eggs, milk, cheese. Theirs staple foods were starchy - bread,
rice, corn, potaatoes..... Many of them also lived long healthy lives

It all depended on what parts of the world they lived.

To me the one big difference is that their starches were not refined
and their foods organically grown and mostly free from ....icides.
That to me seems to be the common denominator.

Regards

Luise
