I guess what's acting as my "compass" on this one is my understanding
of the term "confound", when used in that type of sentence
structure--"confounding this and that."

You can confound a cat by hiding its mouse. :-) -- That's one meaning
of the word, "confuse," etc.

If you were unfamiliar with the nature of houses and the nature of
locomotion, I suppose you could confound a door and a window--some
people like going in and out thru windows, and certainly we open doors
for light and air, so...

But could you confound a window? What would that *mean*?

Hi Shannon,

doesn't it say: confounding objects *and* ideas?

In this case I should read it as confounding one object with another
object or some objects with other objects and one idea with another
idea or some ideas with other ideas.

so how confused is this window? what is its core delusion?
does it think itself a door? or maybe a carpet? what was
the precipitating cause for this delusion?

ah, poor window. maybe it should be cleaned with some
ammonia to let the light in.

Hi Luise,
I guess the only way to settle it, would be to read the original
material to see what was being described. For now, I'm just going to
go with the idea of "schizophrenia" or something along those lines--and
add it to my unwritten list of "mystery rubrics"!

Hi Shannon,

I don't recall whether in your initial post you mentioned the remedies
under this rubric. I am interested myself: if you list them or the
first say 3 if they are numerous, I'll look it up.
